The bloke we shafted to create a job for Burton.

There's a fine line when it comes to getting the most performance out of a human body and it's different for each individual. It's no surprised that some players are breaking down but on the flip side all of our players look stronger, faster and fitter this year. I'm sure Burton and Haas will taper the loads of the players who's bodies cop these niggles to accommodate and find the best balance.

I seem to recall people here saying we were too unfit and slow under Poulos?

The only year I can recall our fitness program gett8ng praise was last year.

Brett "Jobs for Boys" Burton was in charge.

Now he has been promoted with less time spent preparing players and we have a spate of Hamstring issues

Yet people are blaming Burton?

I don't think a Human Movement degree, even with honours is enough to let you work as a physio. Obviously you don't need to be a physio to be a strength and conditioning coach, but I thought a Human Movement degree was basically like an Arts degree in that it wasn't that useful all by itself.

They are not the Physio's - Duncan Kellaway is the head Physio and rehab coach with Mark Nagel, Tim Cook, Kevin Whitford
While Marc Cesana is the head doctor with Duncan Walker, Stephen Kennett
Burton then Hass are the General Managers there main charter is to bring all the departments together to work as 1 unit.

Crows is the only decent job on there. And good luck doing the PhD remotely, that's a bitch.

So was travelling with the 22, in other words?

He's not going to Perth in the next few days that you know of?

Yes, travelled with the team and had a few extra days up there along with the rest of them.

He may well be heading back to WA but the club does that with any player with an LTI. He won't be meeting with either of the clubs. His manager has probably already done that though as any manager worth their money would do.

Your memory seems selective.

Polous was criticised under Sando which we later found out was Sando wanting them bulked up to play contested ball.

Then under Walsh this changed and our fitness improved. Burton just hasn't come up in one preseason to give us elite fitness and injury prevention, that's a build up over years.

Now we are into our second year with Burton regime, I say Burton because his fingerprints would be all over our program.

Rugby 7's is an olympic sport now. Part of the reason he left.

I'd say the bigger issue wasn't Polous leaving, but how Hass got the GM job. He was originally hired as a strength and conditioning coach, but a month later Burton got promoted, so we just promoted Hass into Burton's job. I don't think there was any external search at all for the GM job and we just hired Nathan Heaney who had been a S&C coach in Victoria (VFL, hockey and for AFL Victoria) to fill in Hass' position.

Yeah remember the stories about Sando being able to bench press more than anyone on the team when he got there.

I am sure I read somewhere that Brisbane were plagued with soft tissue injuries while Burton was fitness coach at the Lions, it just seems way too much of a coincidence that we seem to be having an unprecedented speight of hamstring injuries now that Burton's hands have been over our fitness program.

I agree with you about Poulos, there were some initial concerns earlier on, but by 2014 and into 2015 Poulos had the players running like a well oiled machine.

Personally I was hugely disappointed when we replaced Poulos with Burton and if this year is anything to go by then the club may have potentially made a huge mistake.
