7 news said Talia avoided tendon damage and will be out for a month.

No mention of Knight.

Knowing how we tend to treat mentioning injuries, I'll just prepare myself for Knight to be announced as a season ending injury in about a month and a half.

Surely Knight's okay for this week, then

Unfortunately, the combination of the AFC being notoriously cagey with injury reports and channel 7 neglecting to mention Knight in any capacity does not erase the fact that he strained his hammy and will miss a minimum of 3 weeks.

We said the same about Cameron last week

Well no, not really. Cameron's complaint was reported as a knock to the hip during the broadcast. There was never ice on his hamstring either. You don't mess with hamstrings. Knight is out.

There was ice on Cameron's groin. Have a look at the vision in the rooms after a game for any team and you will see ice on hamstrings all over a vast majority of players. This isn't to say that Knights will be playing this week, but putting ice on that area can also mean that it is prevention.

Haha all good mate. If Knight misses 3-4 and Talia misses 4-5 I'd be pretty happy with that really. I was certainly concerned on the day that one of them might've done some McGovern-type damage and it appears as though that isn't the case. We need all hands on deck by the time we play Geelong though, so the hamstring plague must end here.

That pisses me off no end. Why can't they put the news on the AFC website when the information is released?

A few years ago I recall the hardness of our training venue being blamed for a run of injuries. Can anyone remember what the injuries were and who the coach/fitness guys were at the time?

That was 2015 and having to train on Thebarton due to a one direction concert at AAMI. I think it was blamed for foot injuries to Brouch and Lowden.

Ah, Luke Lowden, a poor man's Angus Graham!

Thankfully we never had to break the emergency glass on either of those players.

Pyke was a little quick in denying any link with hamstrings and the fitness program. I'm not sure how he could come to that conclusion in such a short time. His comment "that's footy, that's what happens" is insulting! Thats what you tell a five year old when you have no idea.

I think most supporters understand these things can happen. I also think the club has a responsibility to monitor their procedures and be a little more up front about these things.

Ofcourse the club wouldnt just sit back and think that, internally there would be a review and different procedures would be put in place to ensure it no longer continues. There is no benefit to Pyke going into the press conference and saying "....Yep, its bad, really bad. I and the club have no idea what to do. We are now in crisis". Since Fagan and to a lesser extent Pyke have taken over, we have been an absolute closed book and its not going to change anytime soon, which is excellent. His comment is nothing more than a typical footy throwaway line. I think of Pyke like a duck on the water, things would be going a million miles an hour underneath, but he just never gives anything away.

Depending on how much you trust the published injury list, we could/should be getting a lot of players back in the next few weeks.

JJ, Kelly, and Gallucci are all listed as "test" in the latest injury list on the AFL website. Cheney and Keath are both listed as "1-2 weeks" (which I read as returning sometime in October).

It's what he has to say, even if internally they are doing a review and asking questions, he needs to say nothing publicly because if they did say they are reviewing or think they have done something wrong, the media and fans will start a witch hunt and careers will be tarnished unfairly.

Is Doedee now injury free and ready to play?

Hanging out for today's update from the club.

Nah, I recall the discussion centrreing around the fact that our training area was used as a car park every weekend during the season.
Max Basheer was called Max Basher

Agree its very difficult. But to me and others it seemed dismissive. A better answer may have been ' you are always looking at ways to improve and players push themselves to be the best and sometimes things happen, we will monitor the causes and aim to eliminate these''

Which is an answer that is best on reflection and not in a presser directly after a game, but he and the club, should have known it was coming.
