I still think we'll do something unexpectedly expected and draft Jack Higgins

Would not shock me as we have a Link with Oakleigh.

Don't need him though have enough Forwards his Height

Just checked Twomey’s phantom form guide from October 2014. He had JDG at 13. Wright at 5. Laverde at 8. Lamb at 15.

Everyone goes on about how good he is, but really he has as much idea as any of us.
Yeah, until the last few weeks they're going on their own knowledge, then information starts to filter through from clubs.

Have a look at Twomey's 2013 October rankings (Bont at 13, Aish at 2). It's that draft that still kills me. Drafting Bont would have solved 99 of our problems.

We nailed the 2014 draft, if we'd nailed 2013 in a similar way our rebuild would have been right on track. Those 7 first round picks in 3 years were meant to be the engine of our resurgence. If either Bont had lasted two more picks or our picks had not been wiped out by injury, they could have been. Instead, it's that 2013 that has held us back.

This has me a little concerned.

We can ill afford to continue drafting poor kicks of the footy.
Even though he's likely to come post pick 50 with a discount in a relatively average draft and has pedigree and good height?

I think all things considered he's definitely worth taking, just have to iron out the kinks and give him time to develop, he's very raw.

On his kicking though, that's the only footage I've seen but it looked neat enough, just hung a bit long for my liking. Things can change though with a bit of work.

A little piece on Tyler Brown from afl.com.au. Looks pretty exciting tbh. A lot taller than Cal, but moves like his dad.

You can see why he got an invite to combine. Moves well through traffic and has a lovely side step to get him out of trouble. Plenty to work with, I think we’d be silly not to pick him up.

I can remember being furious when we picked thomas over ellis at pick 2.everyone was saying ellis at 2 but it all worked at well in the end

That's the only footage I've seen of him so I can't go into depth on his skill by foot other than to say it appeared fine. What I would say though that just like his brother his first instinct appeared to always be handball. That's ok if you're Cripps, Wines or Bont who can draw 2-3 players at a time, but not them two. With a step like Tyler's why you'd want to handball all the time is beyond me! Unless of course his kicking is poor so they deliberately chose to use mostly handball footage (I have my doubts).

100% with HFF. There's no way we can consider any player at any point in the draft this year if they haven't got at least decent footskills.

Just because he handballs a lot doesn’t automatically mean he’s a poor kick.

From the few kicks that were shown, his kicking skills looked fine. I suspect that it is just a confidence thing. It was a really impressive highlights package. After that, I'm more interested than I was in his brother and Josh Daicos.

I'm not so sure when I draw comparisons to his brother. I'd guess that it's a mindset thing. I agree re his kicking and the quality of the footage so purely on that basis I'd be happy with anything post 40.

I didn't say he was a poor kick.
I just I'm nervous as to why there's little to no footage of him kicking the footy- everything is a handball even when he creates time and space.

The very few kicks he had all hung in the air for a while.

As I said, I'm concerned a little because we can ill afford to continue to draft players who are poor kicks of the footy.

Hes had a season that stands out thats for sure

Doesn't look that he's kicking would be a weapon id agree

I know there were a lot of handballs in that package, but in fairness it was pretty much the right thing to do and he made good choices in almost every instance. His kicking, while lacking some penetration seemed neat enough and was well weighted.

The reports I’ve seen on him haven’t highlighted his kicking as a weakness at all, so I don’t think there’s much to be concerned about tbh.

Cats just got given pick 19 (end of 1st round) from the AFL for Motlop compo!

Seems excessive; our 2nd pick will be almost 40 soon

FA Compo makes no Sense

Yes Bonar has 2 knees :drunk:

He only had one knee injury though which was an ACL rupture. The graft from the first operation (when aged 16) did not take so he needed a new graft. That's not strictly a new injury. He had corrective surgery on the first and only knee injury.
Still he's all ours.

And we can play him next to Cox to learn his craft.
