They're all hacks but he must be talking to people that matter and have some idea
Given the way he's flip flopping with Collingwood currently I'd say he has no idea, and frankly he usually doesn't at this time of year. He really only seems to get half accurate intel coming in to the week before the draft. His October phantoms as a general rule tend to be horrendously inaccurate, and his power rankings aren't much better. Pretty sure he had Callum Brown in the top 30 last year getting bid on before our first pick.

Well I guess that's everyone then, even Hine nearly dropped dead when Grundy fell to us

There's a real air of Pendlebury about Coffee, the way he moves and even where he sits in the draft, a lot of mocks have him just outside the top 10 like Pendles was in his year

Is Bishop plugged into anything? He hasn't updated his phantom in 2 months but he's got Brandy at 5 and Coffee at 6
Coffield has been rated 5-15 most of the year. Mentioned more top 10 in the last couple of months

He writes for AFL draft central. He rates him number 5 overall. I would say he will have Coffield at our pick 6 unless he thinks Freo is going to take him before.

Phantom drafts board is funny atm. Every single Adelaide fan that posts there has Fogarty magically sliding to them at 12.

And as I say that he puts up the first round and he’s given us Coffield.

He will stay there 2 years and then come back.

If i'm getting the info, clubs surely have an idea and given the Lachie Weller situation they would be extremely gun shy.

Not so sure about that. Brisbane are rumoured to be overlooking him because he doesn't want to leave Vic. Given they just lost Balic for a packet of chips I think they'd be cautious about using an ultra early pick on a kid who might pack up in 2 years. As much as it shits me to say it, Carlton are in the box seat for Rayner.

Not sure on where the talk of Rayner wanting to stay in Melbourne has come from?

I heard him interviewed on this issue, and he was pretty definitive on his views:

The Lions have been ravaged by the "go-home factor" in recent years, with a host of talented young players including Sam Docherty, Elliot Yeo and Billy Longer all departing and forging impressive careers at other clubs.

Rayner revealed he was asked by the Lions about that possibility when interviewed by them, but the Western Jets star insisted he would be in for the long haul if he was recruited by the wooden spooners.

"I don't think that's in my make-up," Rayner said at the AFL draft combine at Etihad Stadium on Thursday.
"I feel that if I was to go to a club, you'd want to get the best out of the club and the best out of the players, so I'd definitely stay there.

"I've been wanting to play footy since I was a little kid so I would move halfway across the world to play so I'm not really fussed about that. I'd be fine."

That's just for the camera's, i've talked to somebody who knows him.

Interesting...

I have a friend at Freo (front office, not player) - and I can tell you that they will pounce on Rayner if he's there at 2.

I think he will be there at 2.
Lions concerned.

2 years is a long time, maybe he'll enjoy it over there!

I’m sure that Aish, Polec, Yeo, Schache etc all said the right things before they were drafted too.

We'll likely use late picks to upgrade Cox and Thomas.

We'd still have 70 and 85 for that.

Not on top of what our list situation looks like but I know it's tight so that would be the only thing that stops us considering using pick 61 as a live pick imo.

I generally like the idea of best possible player for a top pick - but with where our list is at surely we take a big?

We just have such a logjam of mids that our last similar pick, JDG, 3 yrs in is still not getting played as a primary midfielder. I think if we had an eye on a small i think we wouldve used some of our midfield depth (eg. Greenwood) to try and get an extra pick and create space (both list and capwise).
Instead its all our young bigs that were delisted. Whether or not we thought any of those guys had potential (Schade?) I dont see us making those moves without having a replacement in mind.

They'd need to become live picks first so we'll wait and see who gets the chop.

Agree to disagree. I don't think Rayner has to "say the right thing" in hope of getting drafted - he's a definite.

Behind closed doors, he could easily tell Clubs he has a preference to play in Melbourne, and I can assure you he hasn't mentioned that to Fremantle.

Coffield is interesting. Nice height. Makes time and space as well as an in the draft. Skills are there. Quick.

Production only average. Has played a lot down back. Has had some minutes here and there as midfielder and won it, so there is hope.

He could be one to draft as a Pendlebury successor, though if that's really my line of thinking.

I'd be hoping Adam Cerra slides to 6. He may be the best midfielder in the draft. Production when he played is as good as any as a mid. In a half he kicked 3 goals, 5 behinds in a rare chance forward. Skills and evasiveness excellent but a really strong contested ball winning midfielder. He's a premium mid if there is a certain one in this draft.

To give my opinion, it's either a slider from Rayner/LDU/Cerra/Dow or it's a tall.

Some could make cases for Stephenson, Coffield, some have spoken Bonar, though he less than the others fills a need.

No clear choice at 6 and likely we won't really know who will be the choice until the draft of the draft or perhaps one or two days before if we're lucky, as Collingwood tend to stay fairly tight lipped.

Neither did Yeo or Schache, they were both first round locks! Kids tell clubs what they want to hear, it’s very rare you get a case like Wingard who outright tell interstate clubs they’ll go straight home, or like Grundy who will ask a club why he’d even want to go there/be a smartarse to the head coach in an interview.

What's the Grundy story?

not much there talls wise. Really hoping for Petty at 38

What's the Grundy story?
Went to his GWS interview and asked SOS to tell him why he’d want to play for a club manufactured by the AFL with no history or something along those lines. Also allegedly responded to Mark Neeld at Melbourne saying his hair made him look soft by saying that he’d fit right in with their soft midfield.

Makes me love Brodie even more
