Injury 2018 Injury Thread

So what will Williams do for the next year? I imagine being on the long term injury would be a pretty boring existance?

Hey guys. I'm back after my Christmas off. Gutted for Zac. Maybe get him back for Finals.

There is one benefit to the timing though. They have time to start training people in that position now. Better than happening mid season or the eve of the finals.

Sadly with Wilson out too they can not afford to have any defensive injuries during the year. In this day and age of teams having 2 or 3 large forwards it is an area of a lack of depth for us

Really bad for the club, supporters and more importantly Williams. On the flip side this will open opportunity for someone to stand up and give it a red hot crack.

Not a fan of Lids or Griff going back in place of Williams, should be looking for more run and carry out of defence and I think these days are finished for Lids/Griff, both good skills but would look elsewhere and give youth a shot.

That was the rumour last year so its odd that it hasnt been dealt with considering how important he will be, hopefully holding him back is the treatment rather than hoping he can make it through the year.

A lot of those kind of injuries (inflammation type) can't be dealt with beyond managing workload. It's not necessarily a simple "send them in for surgery" fix.

From the AFL website
I would like to see Greene, Griffen play at least one pre season game so no one plays off no game time and I would think if Lobb is not right then Simpson gets the first few rounds
I am interested in seeing how Langdon goes in the pre season games and if he is a chance at a forward spot

The loss of gun defender Zac Williams (achilles) for most of the season aside, the Giants don’t have too many injury concerns, although they’ll be keen to see Toby Greene, Brett Deledio and Rory Lobb back in full training soon. Adam Kennedy and Matt Buntine are progressing well from ACL surgery but are unlikely to be considered.

Rule him out: Matt Buntine, knee, round 3-4; Adam Kennedy, knee, round 1-2; Brent Daniels, knee, round 2-3; Zac Williams, achilles, TBC

Racing to be ready: Toby Greene (toe), Rory Lobb (groin) and Brett Deledio (achilles) have had interrupted summers and match fitness will likely be their only issue. - Adam Curley

Agree that if Lobb is unfit for round 1, we should throw Dawsome in. Adam Kennedy seems a rough chance of being OK for round 1, but certainly no need to rush him if he isn't fully fit or even 'match fit'. Bonar wasn't particularly impressive today in the AFLX but I'd want to see more of him in preseason to consider if he would be ready to debut in round 1. I'm also keen to see how Zac Giles Langdon goes in preseason - he seems a chance to be ready for round 1.

Langdon a chance if they decide to play a specialist small forward as most of the others are able to play midfield although Lloyd may push him out depending on pre season

I'd like to see a specialist small forward, and ZGL appears to have plenty of speed and heart.
Daniel's injury possibly gives him the box seat, shame I would have loved to see Daniels out there pre-season to get a good look at him.
