2018 Rate My Team (Post JLT)

Hey all. My version 1.0 for 2018.

FWD - Thinking of putting in Witherden for Yeo or possibly finding extra cash and replacing McGrath
MID - Pretty happy with my premo's this year. Last year i said that im going with new and upcoming younger guys for my Premo MIDS. Hence Tich, Oliver, Zerret. I'd like to get Ross in also. I think Beams is going to have an explosive year this year.
RUCK - Not 100% on Martin as Ruck choice in 2018. I stuck by him for all of 2017 and i was happy with his output but if Smith plays more this year I'd have to let him go. NicNat is a worry for me also. Gawn looks strong but i think the POD this year is going to be Ruck choices.
FWD - Happy with my 3 Premo selection. Billings would be nice but he seems to be in everyone's first few versions. Rayner is an expensive rookie but if he plays round 1 he'll make some good coin which i think he will as i think he'll fill Rocky's boots.

Rookies obviously are all subject to change.

Version 2.0

FWD - Dropped Yeo due to latest injury worry and replaced him with Hibberd. Still tossing up between Witherden and McGrath at this stage.
MID - Still the same from v1.0 besides rookies. Seriously thinking about going Dangerless. I'd throw in Ross and wait for Dangers price to drop before i snag him, but i doubt i'll do that.
RUCK - Still with Martin at this stage however have dropped NicNat. His latest reports are worrying to say the least. Every man and is dog has Gawn so i think he'll be a mid year trade for me. I've put Sandi in again this year.I love his latest report. Determined to play every game this year. He's gone full beast mode. Looks fit and strong.
FWD - Still the same lineup but the more ad more I read about Billings he may be the FWD you must have this year. Time will tell.

I'm still hanging onto NicNat, if he is named Round 1 he stays no matter how underdone he is.
I have 3 x 188k plus rookies as placeholders , but I can hopefully cull one of them, but overall I will stay with this structure over JLT and AFLwanX.

First attempt at a team this year. Hopefully this season doesn't go as horribly as 2017.

Guaranteed to change this plenty of times before round 1.
I'm tempted to go with 6 premo mids, as I tried that lat year and it was probably one of the few things that worked well for me. Probably going to downgrade 1-2 of the 180k+ rookies, and switch around a bunch of other, but will wait and see how they all play in JLT before making desicions.



Also, the Round 14 bye can GAGF.

Don't mind your backline even though i probably wont pick any of your premiums. Your midfield lacks real firepower so i suggest getting at least 1 captaincy option like Danger/Dusty/Titch. I dont rate Hall at all. Martin and Goldstein are great players but both may struggle to maintain a high average given they may both be in a job share situation. As for forwards, you've picked some great players but generally key position players average slightly less. Thus, I don't see much improvement in Roughy and Walker while i think Lynch will improve but probably not enough to warrant selection. Your rookies are fine. Players i suggest you consider include Danger/Dusty/Gawn/Billings/Heeney. While it is refreshing to see something different i think you've made a couple selection errors. Anyway, good luck

Interesting that there's been no mention of Roughead this year, when he was in a lot of sides last season ......you'd think he'd more likely to get back to his ..oops, just saw that his SC score has been dropping each year for the last 4 years ......carry on, nothing to see here

Rookies are pretty much just place holders until I know who is playing rnd 1 but I actually cant see the rest changing that much or at all injury permitting.
Only change I see is dumping nic nat for Ryder, But Paddy makes me nervous even though he finished super strong.

Filled it with all the high priced rookies too since el cheapo class of 17 burned me shocking.

I am mainly toying with Coniglio/Heeney at this stage. $1,068,200 to spend between these two spots.

D.Smith killed the intra-club today playing almost exclusively mid so Smith + Oliver/Kelly are looking mighty tempting.

Keeping Rd14 in the back of my mind and trying really hard not to pick up to many of them and are holding Simmo/Curnow in high regard due to their nice bye.

My work in progress:
Def: not liking most premo options, did have Burton in up until yesterday but deep defence talk has scared me off. So have put in Howe who l love and is relatively consistent in. Big watch on Maynard & McGrath
Mid: Couldn't go without Danger, god damn he is expensive. Can't stand Mitchell so refuse to have him. Love Zorko so he's in. Rocky has burned me before like 000's of others but got a good feeling about him this year. Cogs l was 80% sold on and whilst musing his inclusion, a news clip on him and gws leadership group comes on....it's a sign l tell ya so he's 100% in
Ruck: Have had nearly every ruck combo with Gawn...what a head ache! So many question marks on many of them so despite Cox going to be more prominent, don't care, gut feel says Grundy gonna smash it this year.
Fwd: Like Def, premo's not singing to me. Heeney in, interrupted pre season worries me so he could easily become Billings. If Heeney stays in JDG will make way for Billings him. Am bullish on JDG but setback concerns me. Bullish on Petracca too, again, like alot of my selections, it's pretty much based on gut feel.
Have my eye on a couple mid pricers and rather than commit now, it'll be a wait and see for first two rounds then use my 227k kitty to jump on most promising one in round 3.

Reckon you’re not batting deep enough in defence or forward. As you said JDG a worry as apparently not as fit as hoped. Grundy for mine is not worth it if Cox plays as Buckley has stated. He averaged 80 when cox played last year.

I’d use the spare cash to get another forward or defender in.

I like the midfield. Plenty of scoring power.

I think it’s a fairly unique team. But too many PODs and not enough firepower. Probably need to bro g Gawn in for Goldy unless you know something we don’t about the north ruck setup this year. I’d also be chopping swallow and either pittard or McMillan. Then upgrade a mid to Danger or Dusty or Mitchell. Also upgrade Tmac to Hibberd or laird.
