The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reports the Eagles expressed interest in impending free agent Josh McCown for a position on the coaching staff, but McCown isn't ready to retire.
McLane adds McCown was possibly even in contention for the Eagles' still-open OC job. McCown turns 40 this summer and wants to keep sticking around as a player before getting into the coaching ranks. However, he seems like the rare case of a player who would be able to immediately transition to the booth and/or sideline as a coach. It's something that appears to be in his future if/when he decides to make the move.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports Packers DC Mike Pettine will return as the team's defensive coordinator.
Pettine was a holdover from Mike McCarthy's tenure and improved Green Bay's defensive unit in numerous categories following the offseason additions of free-agent pass rushers Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith. Even so, the team finished No. 18 in yards allowed, getting embarrassed in the NFC Championship behind a whopping 285 rushing yards and 37 points permitted. Given the cap space and abundance of draft picks the organization concertedly sunk into that side of the ball at this time last year, 2020 is likely Pettine's last shot at redemption under coach Matt LaFleur.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Vikings assistant head coach/offensive advisor Gary Kubiak is taking over as the offensive coordinator.
Kubiak replaces new-Browns coach Kevin Stefanski. Still, the long-time run-game guru had a large impact on the Vikings' ability to largely control games on the ground as well as Kirk Cousins' frequent play-action success. Expect a similar approach in 2020: Feed Dalvin Cook all he can handle while featuring Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs in the passing game.

Not a fan of this appointment. The big negative on Kubiak, particularly when he was at Houston, was that he was too predictable and this caused multiple interceptions for Matt Shaun in 2013. It’s already been noted that the Stefanski offence (which was really the Kubiak offence) was very vanilla and overly reliant on the running game setting up the passing game. As the season progressed other coaches worked out what the Vikings were doing and this culminated in a very ordinary last quarter of the season. Putting aside the wildcard win against the Saints the remainder of the end of the season was very disappointing. To simply do a rinse and repeat sets a dangerous precedent for 2020 IMO.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone put all those INTs Schaub started throwing on Kubiak.

I do know he was great for the Ravens in 2014, as this graph shows

And that Kirk had a career year this season, so Kubiak must have been doing something right

Broncos hired ex-Giants OC Mike Shula as QB coach.
It's a step back after Shula held a coordinator role under Pat Shurmur the last two years. He'll continue to follow Shurmur, who replaced ex-Broncos OC Rich Scangarello. This is a good get for Denver — Shula has a strong offensive background and played a role in developing Daniel Jones this past season. Shula will try to parlay Drew Lock's rookie success into a second-year leap.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Vikings assistant GM George Paton removed his name from consideration with the Browns because he had "some questions about the power structure."
Paton left his second interview with "a number of issues" and "wasn’t entirely comfortable with how it would play out." It sounds like there was a split between Cleveland's front office on who to hire, with chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta pushing Eagles VP of football operations Andrew Berry and new coach Kevin Stefanski wanting Paton. With Paton out of the running, Berry is now the clear favorite for the Browns' GM job.

According to ESPN's Jake Trotter, former Giants coach Ben McAdoo was seen at the Browns' facility on Friday.
The nature of his visit is unknown, though it's possible McAdoo is interviewing for a position on coach Kevin Stefanski's staff. The Browns have an OC vacancy, although it's been speculated Stefanski could serve as his own offensive coordinator. McAdoo hasn't coached since his midseason firing in 2017, but has landed a few interviews during that time including recent sit-downs with Carolina and Jacksonville. The 42-year-old is obviously very familiar with Odell Beckham, who had some of his best seasons under McAdoo in New York.

Former Falcons DC Marquand Manuel interviewed for the Eagles' opening at DBs coach.
Philadelphia is seeking a replacement for Cory Undlin, who recently defected to Detroit, where he'll serve as Matt Patricia's defensive coordinator. The Eagles also conducted a sit-down with Browns DBs coach DeWayne Walker, though Manuel appears to be the favorite and could be hired as soon as Friday, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. A former safety who played for the Bengals, Seahawks, Packers, Panthers, Broncos and Lions across his eight NFL seasons, Manuel spent last year out of the league following a two-year stint as Atlanta's defensive coordinator.

Cowboys hired former Vikings DC George Edwards.
His job title has yet to be determined, though beat reporter Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram hears his focus will be on the team's linebackers. This will be Edwards' second go-round with Dallas after previously serving as the Cowboys' LBs coach from 1998-2001. Edwards was fired shortly after Minnesota's Divisional Round loss to San Francisco, concluding his six-year reign as defensive coordinator.

Shula advising QBs 😂

"Drew, what you do on third and short is take the snap and run it up the middle, some coaches like myself will even call for you to run it up the middle on first and ten"

like Multiplicity...the more versions the worse they are. Same found in other names' offsprings....Davis, Shanahan, Jones, Belichick, etc etc.

Kyle's a chip off the old block. A son you can be proud of. The rest tho.

hold that thought till after this SB. never know, they could choke another huge lead again (highly possible given what mahomes has done already), and then what would we say about Kyle?

He's still an offensive wizard and mastermind of his time, much like his father.

GG.exe there is talk that BB traded Jimmy to San Fran for less than he could have got elsewhere because he would get to play under Kyle and he wanted to make Kraft look foolish for not listening to him.

BB has said that both Mike and Kyle are two of he best offensive minds he's ever had to gameplan against.

clearly that was on display in SB 51.

Youre over-inflating him a little bit. the 19/20 niners is mainly the defense, and theyre loaded with talent. same with that falcons season. how a coach gets more out of a poorer roster is more of a litnus test

kyle and mike are above average offensive minds. not sure id declare them greats tho. in the annals, there have been greater innnovators....paul brown, don coryell, bill walsh, etc....the entire walsh tree just living off of walsh really, nothing really theyve done themselves.
