Well looking at the draft, why would the Crows or Lions select Robertson? I can see Crows selecting Gould though.
Port will probably go Worrel next.
So yeah, I think Robertson will be there at 26, but I don't reckon we will select him. I can see us going for outside run like Sharp instead at 26.

All off season I've read nothing but people stating we'll definitely trade up. Oh we'll be trading into the top 10 they said. We haven't.
We'll be targeting Kemp/Robertson. We weren't.

Tonight people were getting excited/upset based on who other clubs were picking and how it affected us getting Robertson/Kemp. We had two bites at the former and steered clear both times, as did every club with a Round 1 pick... but what was the aftermath of our selections? Not welcome Cooper! or Welcome Sam!... No. It was drivel about Wells being shit. Well, Welcome to both young lads, may they have long careers at Geelong.

Bunch of clueless muppets who read too many articles, give too much credence to what two bit hacks like Cal Twomey and Co say and frankly have SFA idea what rationale clubs use to select players, and most importantly our own list management team.

Leave the passion crap at the door champ. We're all passionate about the club around here.

If he's off by that much what chance do the Average Joe's from Cats Bigfooty have.

Let's just enjoy the two young men who have joined our footy club tonight and leave the draft melting to 5 years from now if Robertson is a gun and these two are flops.

McAsey would be the obvious choice but with him gone it was probably down to De Koning and Worral and De Koning has the size which is a need.

Why not? Consensus pick amongst supporters (Robertson, Haskins) goes later than expected while we 'Reach' on players who are projected to go later hence the melting. Seems pretty similar to me.

I have had this discussion with YOTC a lot ... I like DEK as much or more for his upside. 200cm.. he has real height to develop as a shutdown marking tall defender..

I looked him up, he is 200 cm so perhaps we look at him as a swingman playing forward or defense? I like the sound of him over Worrell though.

maybe its just cause i rated cooper really high and not roberston, robertson is probably the worst kick inside the top 30 guys. and if youre going by fox footy's rankings please ignore them, some of their rankings and comparisons tonight were awful

Robertson situation reminds me of Constable - people had him early 20's (even late teens) and he slipped to 36 or whatever it was. Will be interesting to see - maybe we were confident on getting Robertson so we went for players who might've been snapped up otherwise

Exactly. Robertson is a very ordinary kick and that is being reflected tonight. It’s a non-negotiable in modern-day AFL football.

Pretty happy with the picks, Stephens has the potential to be a top grade big bodied mid with some speed. De Koning not a overly exciting pick but feel he will be a very important pick for us in a few years time, tall, athletic and versitile key defender who fills a big need. Got a feeling Wells May see him as having some ruck potential. Couldn’t believe we didn’t pick up Robertson but 18 list managers can’t be wrong, must have some glaring holes in his game to be overlooked multiple times. Would still love to pick him up at 26, like his hardness and leadership. Would love Gould too.
