Adelaide's not really home for him though. He's from country Victoria came to Adelaide on a private school scholarship about 2 years ago

So he'll be at Geelong in a couple of years? ;)

Ok im late on this draft info and going back a few pages didnt actually help at all here. Whats the rumours of what we are going for?

Are we going for Pickett with a 1st pick? Lost Fantasia then was happy to move down a couple of spots from 10-12 & bringing in 18.
With Pickett being a small forward who is predicted to go from about 18 onwards, wouldn't surprise me if we use 12 on him which is why we were happy to move down 2 spots (which will probably end up being pick 15 or something after F/S and academy picks.)

Pickett in the first round would be insane

When is he predicted to be picked up? Heard the SA based development guy say he could go late first round, but there is a bit of bias there to be fair.
can’t imagine him going earlier than late 2nd

So Port currently has picks:
12 = 1,268 points value
18 = 985
29 = 653
66 = 80
67 = 69
68 = 59
71 = 29
86 = 0

Freo, Brisbane and GC all have early picks, so may be amenable to trading for a later Round '1' pick with us.

Assuming we finish 10th again next year (???) then our future 2nd Rounder would be worth around 650 to 700 points.

Would we trade pick 12 and our future 2nd with:

Freo for picks 10 and 22 (worth 2,240 points) plus a gentlemen's agreement that we do not to place a bid on Henry? - probably not as we would need to find more points to make that ok with Freo, or

Brisbane for picks 16 and 21 (worth 1,945 points)? Maybe, or

GC for picks 15 and 20 (worth 1 945 points)? Maybe.

Then we could trade our picks 20 and 29 (worth 1,567 points) with Geelong for their picks 17 and 36 (worth around 1,400 points), or 17 and their future 2nd rounder, plus a little extra with their future picks.

Gives us 15 (or 16), 17, 18 and 36 and we lose our future 2nd but pick up Geelong's for a few picks later.

Pick up three good players and match a Mead bid (you would hope after 18) with 36 and our late picks and go into slight deficit next year. We use our picks in the 60's this year which are 4th rounders, so the deficit comes off next year's 4th rounders (I think?).

We had 40 on the primary list this season, promoting 2 from the rookie list makes 42, then traded delisted 6 from the primary list giving us 36 - so we can use 4 picks in this year's Draft.

If we then were to delist someone out of contract (like Mayes) with a promise to re-rookie him, then we have space for one DFA on the main list (thinking of Chace Jones as a ruck, or Matt Allen as a power forward).

Saw some VFL highlights of Buzza - actually looks a downgrade on Frampton. Doesn't have as good a leap nor capacity to clunk pack marks like Frampton, and is an iffy kick for goal (Billy could nail then from 55m). Moore doesn't seem much better to me either.

Get rid of SGray to make room.

Fox Footy's Matt Balmer on Port's draft considerations

PORT ADELAIDE

Draft picks:
12, 18, 29, 66, 67, 68, 71, 86

Draftable Father-Son/Academy prospects: Jackson Mead, Trent Burgoyne

The Power slide back slightly in the draft order – but the net result of adding another first-round selection is huge. Given their inside midfielder dominance, an outside midfielder in the class of SA prospect Dylan Stephens would be their No. 1 target – if he isn’t taken earlier. The left-footer has poise and would be a great option for the club. If the Power look tall, Josh Worrell and Fischer McAsey might be two on their radar, while Miles Bergman’s zip and rapid rise could see him snapped up in the second-half of the first round.

Looks very likely Mead will be bid on before our 29.

I can't see us trading 29 up to anything, so surely we are looking at doing 18 + 29 into something like a 14 + 40. There's not really much problem with us paying "overs" to move 18 up given that all the later picks will be eaten up in matching a Mead bid anyway.

We get a gold star if we manage 3 picks before Mead. That means turning 29 into 22 or better.

That could be done by blackmailing Freo if pick 12 comes and still no bid on Henry. Our promise not to bid on him, 29 and a later couple of picks, makes the offer worthwhile to Freo points wise. Alternatively, a future pick could be involved.

GC want another top 10 pick for 15 and 20. We can't give them that but 12 and 29 for 15 and 20 could be a consolation prize for them leaving us with 15, 18, 20 and Mead.

Josh Schoenfield was delisted yesterday to be re-rookied. (if available) He had a contract till 2020.

GOLD Coast has re-signed youngsters Jesse Joyce and Josh Schoenfeld, with the pair excited by a new era under coach Stuart Dew.
The duo have extended their contracts until the end of the 2020 season.

Josh Schoenfeld will also be delisted, but the club has committed to picking him up in the 2019 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
