Fantastic news, well done Canberra Hawks Supporter Group for pushing for this over the years Does this mean that there are more than 1,000 members in the ACT?
At least there will be a bigger crowd than if it was played at Spotless.
Make it like a home game guys. Giants play Canberra well though

Very excited about having the Hawks come to Canberra. There is a very real chance the temperature could already be 0 or below before the start of the game. There could be a few hamstrings in trouble that evening and the players might struggle as well.

We don't really have anyone other than ourselves to blame. Our supporters pick and choose which home games to attend and which to not attend. To wit:

What about the TV ratings? I thought that's the main factor in deciding the fixture.

for TV, not the ground you play that game at

If they can get good ratings and 45-50 at Marvel that will be a prime time game
nothing says it has to be at MCG for people to watch on TV

No worries, we can sit back and watch the soft tax that the new 'power' clubs pay roll into the coffers

Crowds like that are why the club won't get rid of the Tassie deal, if we're drawing those numbers vs Sydney & Adelaide can you imagine what it would be vs Freo and GC.

I think both will play part. First pick the timeslot, then they decided the ground based on availability and historical attendance figures.

Maybe that average is a true reflection of the hawks numbers. I mean do we have any information of the members numbers based on the membership types?

Maybe our "7 home games" members is only around 40k therefore that's the average of MCG home games attendances.

Serious question - does any other Club other than the Hawks pay the tax.

Where can we get a breakdown of the taxes paid since they were introduced.

Except the Sydney and Adelaide numbers were the exception to the rule...

In 2013-17 we drew 52,180, 61,880, 63,319, 72,760, 54,825 and 37,470 and 45,179 to games against Sydney and Adelaide

Those numbers probably better Collingwood and Richmond tbh

Last year we had monsoon rain for the Swans game and the Australia v France World Cup fixture (the most anticipated of the World Cup in Australia) for the Crows game

Name me many other Victorian clubs who would average 50,000 to 7 MCG home games (with only 4 against Victorian opposition)

Meanwhile our crowds on the map struggle to clear 10,000

Between 2014 and 2016 we cleared 60,000 plus to all MCG home games against Sydney. Heck in 2017 we drew 52,000 plus to a late season game, in winter where we were 2 games outside the 8.

What happened last year to justify the 20,000 dip on 2017, 30,000 dip on 2016 and 40,000 dip on 2014?

Our crowds down in Tassie are irrelevant it's about the money the deal generates for the club. Also the 2013-2016 figures will also be inflated as we have lots of bandwagon fans who enjoyed attending when we were winning every week.

Don't get me wrong I'd love for us to play 17 games per season in Melbourne, just don't think the club will have faith in our fans turning up week in week out unless we're flying. Hence I think we will be reluctant to let go of the deal with the Tasmanian Government.

Franklin, Cyril, Hodge and Mitchell and the most boring game style in the comp.
