Yes, Joel Western & Lachie Jones were two HBFs I had thoughts on early and they only seem to have gotten better. Very unlikely to get either, as both tied to clubs that understand their value, even if bid on early I expect. They were my early thoughts - Chapman has grown on me recently because we won't have access to Western & Jones but his aggregated qualities seem on a par for our needs. I do like the thought of pairing Jack Carroll with a Chapman selection - added to Sam Taylor down back and Captain Cogs you'd hope we could make them feel part of the family.Giant Strides
Joel Western is one I've revisited lately after being questioned about him, genuinely may be pushing into my top 20, he's another I'd love for us to look at if we get a later first round pick, looks to be best on early.

Adrian Caruso you getting this dude?Yes, Joel Western & Lachie Jones were two HBFs I had thoughts on early and they only seem to have gotten better. Just need to tell the club now.

I largely agree. I haven't bought into this year being a weaker draft as much as others, perhaps because there's a good chunk of academy talent in those first two groups but the open draft talent is still there. If we can get a Band 1 for Williams and then second rounders for Corr, Hately and Caldwell I'll be pretty happy with that hand, wouldn't be surprised to see our recruiting team make a move up ala Taranto 2016I listened to his podcast - Adrian did say it was a solid draft, top 15-20 kids, then the next level 15-20 - so I think that we'll need picks in that top 35-40 otherwise we'll look to recycled players. But a good mix of types, and a draft to look for specific needs.

IMHO, it depends who & how many we lose, and who we rate. If we lose a few guys, then for once we may need to actually hold on to quantity and not aim for quality. I don't have a problem with chasing Taranto and with the academy guys available that year we didn't actually lose out, but had Setterfield & Perryman not been there, trading a second first round selection to go from 3 to 2 wouldn't have necessarily been the best outcome.I largely agree. Agree with all of that, I worry about what those second rounders end up being around though, with FA Compo in Band 1 and 2 pushing the first round back to possibly 22/23, and I wouldn't be shocked to see 5-7 top 25 bids, those second rounders could end up at 35-40. In that case, regardless of if we get 16 for Caldwell (here's hoping) I'd prefer we trade multiple seconds to say Western Bulldogs or Collingwood. If with the bulldogs then that gives us (presumably) 9,12 and 16, pushed back maybe 2-3 picks after bids but a good first round hand that should get us what we need.IMHO, it depends who & how many we lose, and who we rate. If we only have second rounders plus around 9 for Williams, then happy to move the second rounders for a first rounder - there's quality in those teen picks. Bulldogs perhaps, or Collingwood depending on the McInnes pick, for bid-matching points.
Of course, I'd hope we drive a hard bargain and take 16 off St Kilda for Caldwell, which I think he's worth. In which case I'd probably be happy with 2 x first rounders and then a couple of second rounders, when there's still some worthwhile quality in the 20s and low 30s IMHO.
Good question, short answer is: I believe so, but it does partly depend on whether Crouch & Daniher attract Band 1 FA compensation, which pushes us back into the maybe/maybe not zone. But there are other options, so I wouldn't pay big to move up just to grab him.Look that’s a pretty attractive write up... will he last that long?
No he hasn't announced yet, but the mail is strong that he's going to leave. I try to use the word ''if'' to indicate there's still a level of doubt, but in a string of posts the later ones sometimes lose the original intent!Has Caldwell announced his intention to leave and I missed it, or are you guys assuming he is gone.
Strange that this would not have been announced if true. Hately advice came out very quickly.Has Caldwell announced his intention to leave and I missed it, or are you guys assuming he is gone.
I heard late last week it was likely he would stay, so was quite surprised that it was taken for granted he would leave.Strange that this would not have been announced if true. Hately advice came out very quickly.
Perhaps Saints arguing contract terms with Jye's management?
Will be a tad shocked if Jezza stays with us

Yeah trueWe said that about Shiel (first time around) and Kelly and Cogs too though...
plus about 10 more with us and a million comp wide.We said that about Shiel (first time around) and Kelly and Cogs too though...
If that was the case they wouldn't be spruiking like they are, they. Wouldn't need to, they are seriously chasing and feel they are a chance. It just feels like Cameron is waiting for the cats season to be over before announcing he has signed with them.
