So the media thought we had culture issues because we had uncontracted players leaving for reasons such as mega deals, family issues (all the best to the Langdon family) and opportunity.
Then Pies and North say hold my beer.
While our culture isn’t wallowing with the strugglers you mention, it’s clear there are opportunities for improvement.
That group weren’t playing for each other at times this season.
Onwards and upwards next year.

Meh, it's essentially 13 and 15 for Cameron then 20 and a 4th for 2 future 2nds.

Both teams did fine.

I agree it is about fair.

We got the first 3 rounders we wanted, but sent back more than we would have liked.

Was always going to be fair given those involved.

On face value the departures of Caldwell and Hately for very little and nothing respectively - given the draft picks they originally cost - is a real bust for the club.
We got 2 seconds for Caldwell, that is reasonable.

I strongly agree with this.

If Hogan comes good, the forward setup is fine even losing Jezza. Inside midfield is fine, but need some outside talent IMHO. Backline is the big question mark - even dropping Lachie back (which also weakens our midfield outside run). That's why Witherden (to keep Lachie as a winger) or Phillips (to replace Lachie on the wing) would IMHO been value plays. Phillips for a pick in the 60s and Witherden's trade value were abysmally low (still scratching my head over why the Lions did that - dlanod ?) and we should have tried to get in on that IMHO (sorry, I'm a broken record) but they may not have wanted to come.

There can be some talent in the draft who can come in and make an impact for us in first grade.

Game style will be the biggest factor though as to how season 2021 goes, though.
Yea im interested in how we see Xavier... is he good enough tank/disposal wise to be a winger?

He properly has the best speed and endurance combo of anyone on our list when you look at his combine result where he was top 10 in 20 meters sprint, Agility, 2km time trial and yoyo testing. He just needs to be able to show that skillset in his game.

A clear and defined role might help. If he has the speed and endurance to get around the ground, he just needs to earn the trust of his team mates to dispose of it well to complete the picture.

Langdon at melb is a great example of a clear role helping a player flourish

Take your rational arguments elsewhere buddy..... this is bigfooty and we have a reputation to uphold
I sincerely apologise, I forgot where I was and got hit but a sudden burst of lack of emotion :)

That’s my doubt on him, I don’t know that he has game speed. Didn’t impress so far but his specs are good.

The next player of ours that nominates either Essendon or Adelaide needs to be instructed they are not preferred trade partners and be encouraged to look elsewhere. We also need to look at bidding on their Academy players when the opportunity arises. I think both have some coming through. What goes around comes around.

This is such a good point, and why it pays to negotiate 'firmly but fairly' at the trade table. In future if you guys want one of our players or we want one of yours, or we even want to engage in pick swaps or three way trades to help each other, there isn't animosity or a past grudge brought into the mix as well.

The polar difference between our negotiations with you guys and your negotiations with Essendon and Adelaide, shows why those two clubs have been involved in two of the biggest scandals in recent times, and why we're never in those sort of conversations.

They may have 'won' the trade this time, but they've both just pissed off a trading partner who will go much harder next time.

Absolute definition of not 'seeing the forest for the trees'

I said that the two clubs would make a deal in the end.

AFL House should really pay both our clubs royalties for all the clickbait the drama would have drawn in over the past week or so.

So true absolutely spot on.

Tom a Morris seemed to think last night that we are eying off a top 4 pick.

makes sense cause you don’t really want 6 kids from the same draft. Maybe move up so we only have 4 in the top 30 however 1 or 2 of them in the top 10

We only have 3 list spots left yeah? No wonder we told Adelaide where to go.

Definitely going to try and move up the draft order.

2 top 10 picks and Josh Green

Is 3 correct? Jacobs, Shaw, Corr, Cameron, Hately, Caldwell, Williams, Langdon all out the door so far with only 2 in.
However many we need to take it’s unlikely to be 6.

I like the sound of McDonald although not sure we would get high enough to take him. Holland’s as an outside mid who starts his career up forward has appeal too.

Primary list is said to be down to 37 for next year and at the moment we have signed up 32 including Hogan and Preuss but might be 33 if Lloyd has re-signed but hasn't been announced. So its between 4-5 we can add on the primary list depending on what happens with Lloyd.

Also certainly think we can get as high as pick 2 in the draft given that pick 10 and 13 is of equal points value and by reports North Melbourne are open to a trade.
