What's Walker's scope for the wing like?
I like him as more of that running half back personally but I'm pretty sure he played a few colts games on the wing this year and has done so in the past. His speed and decision making would definitely see the move to the wing possible, and maybe necessary considering our depth in the back 6.

That’s promising but wing at AFL level is a position that very few first year players play to a high level. If we draft him he’ll probably get 8 or 10 games as a HBF before a potential move onto the wing after a couple of pre-seasons. Western might get some game time next year as a HFF with sone rotations through the middle.
Really looking forward to seeing both of these guys in freo shirts next season

Finally got around to watching the Colts Grand Final (Been pretty busy so I've only really had time to watch draft related stuff recently)

Gee Western is going to be an absolute steal if a bid comes for him around that 25-40 mark. Everytime I watch him he just has that work rate that makes him look good even if his team mates aren't playing well (such as in the granny). I haven't watched the All Stars match yet but I imagine it's probably most of the same from Western considering he got BOG.

I think he can go into the midfield straight away, even if he's quite small.
Definitely watch the All Stars game - he was much better than he was in the Colts GF imo.

Could you please tell us about potential 2nd round onwards KPFs that might be worth a punt? I am more bullish than I used to be on non-first round KPFs given Tabs, Lewis, Brown and the other North dude whose name escapes me have shown you can get a decent or better player from there.

I think I read you don't rate Baldwin even without the ACLs?

I still like Kaine Baldwin. I didn’t have him top 10 like some people, I thought late first to early second was always his range. It’s just the injuries that are the question really, might end up being all or nothing as a player.

The one I’m not as keen on as most on here is Jackson Callow. I just think he’ll end up as a key defender, potentially a good one though.

The rest are Victorians. We could see some real bargains this year, as well as busts. Ollie Lord would probably be my pick, he’s a good size at 195cm and marks well overhead. I much prefer that to the ones described as ‘athletic’. Can’t teach strong hands. Josh Eyre is tied to Essendon’s NGA, but is the other that showed enough in glimpses last year. 197cm, and again he’s good overhead.

That’s probably about it for the ones I’d look at. Maybe Josh Treacy late or as a rookie, he’s strong and a good mark but I don’t think has the overall game and potential of the others. And then you’re looking at rucks like Shannon Neale and Kalin Lane as talks.

Imagine the bargain someone would be getting with Logan McDonald if he was Victorian, and hadn’t played this year.

We need to hit in the Vic tall forward that was due to explode but never got the chance.

I like the look of Jaiden Hunter and Max Heath. I’m not sure where they fit but I suspect late in the draft or rookie.

Reid, Cox, Lane and Neale should be there about for our first two picks.

What's the knock on Jackson Callow?

It's hard to say to be honest. Obviously I haven't seen a heap of the Tasmanians this year, but I just feel Callow will make a better defender than forward at the top level - and his better games this year seem to have been in that role. Steven May was a similar prospect in his draft year, being a strong full forward and good overhead but has obviously found his role at the other end.

So it's not so much that I don't like Callow, it's that I think he'd be an ok forward but a better defender.

I wonder how feasible it is to have multiple players who can swing forward and back and use that ability through a game (classic Mark Harvey move). We have one in Cox but you don't see it as much anymore with players preparing for a game with strictly one role in mind.

I expect it would work slightly better than having an opposition player swap jumpers for the game and play forward for us given they would have a rough idea of where their forward had been running in training, but not practiced it themselves.

Unless you design your game play with a role for a forward who can do whatever he wants and your key defender's only role is to stick man on man at all times like an old school sacrificing tag.

Then it would work.

I dont see what the big knock is on KM. Hes just another everyday arseh*le who has a passion for footy and invests alot of his time into providing 'content' for the rest of us.

I dont agree with what he says most of the time but his opinion means just as much as mine, which is fk all.

I think a lot of the angst comes from the fact that he gets paid to provide the content. Some seem to be jealous of that. And some just chase "likes" by joining in on the bashing.

It's like people who go after journo's on social media over controversial opinions. That's what they want. It drives traffic to the site, generating ad revenue...

Best to just roll your eyes, move on in silence, and vent elsewhere where they're not getting paid per click

Recently KM revealed two things which to me limit his credibility.

He doesn't want to pay to watch interstate games. In the end this reduces his status from a deft watcher to a reporter of draft watchers.

The second is that he revealed an incorrect understanding of the Points system and how it impacts the draft. As someone positioning himself as a specialist in this aspect of our game it seems pretty amateur.

Read his and others on that thread and enjoy his input, but it is a good reminder of posters limitations.

Top stats getters from the 1st WA u18 All Stars game... Interesting Shannon Neale had the most tackles :) Take most of these with a pinch of salt - you need to watch it to get the context of a lot of these.

personaly find him a sanctimonious blow hard. He literally just crapped on for a page about not following group think when he changes his opinions more than weathervane changes directions.

How'd Western not get 3 score involvements? His 2 goals are score involvements already
