Cement Long, shift Clark back into defence, give Webster or McKenzie their chance to get their careers back on track.... promote Connolly... re-list Savage... knock on Marley Williams' door... try out some stage league blokes, or recent unlucky draft hopefuls...

It's s**t, but its fixable.

Roughy needs a kick to the nuts though, if he buried him..

I’m at intra club.

1’s in Black
2’s in yellow

Hunter rucking for 1s, Sal for the 2’s

Most of our talls (King, Roma, Chips)are in the gym along with gresh. Kent and Jones spectating. No sign of Ryder.

Stand outs for me:

Hill was everywhere, work rate is amazing. Got plenty and kicked a nice goal from pocket. He will love This new Manning of the mark rule! So fast of the mark and did it a few times today.

Hunter destroyed Sal in Ruck, tapping and marking around ground. Kicked a couple snags too.

Sinclair is best 18. Gets To right spots and is so clever with disposal. Can be too cute at times though.

Butler and Higgins got a few between them. Both pushing up quite high, winning ball and nice delivery back i50.

Dmac tagged Steele all game and did a pretty good job. Crouch got plenty and pushed forward for a goal.

Bytel was easily best for the yellow side, had a rough task against Steele, Seb and Crouch but for enough for me to notice. Dunstan was good early but faded towards end. Bytel ahead IMO.

Coffield, Highmore and Wilkie performed well, even after the loss of Patto.

Carlisle kpd for yellow. Won a nice one in one against wood. That’s about all I saw of him.

overall was a pretty one sided and disjointed game soured by Patons injury. Lots of focus on exiting the backline from kick ins andboundary throw ins which really worked a couple times with a couple end to end goals.

Im buying shares in Brad Hill this year!

It’s absolutely gut wrenching news, however how anyone other than an eye witness can bag Roughie is bewildering.

No doubt he tackled him hard. Big guy on smaller guy. Done largely on instinct. Roughie may be a coach but he was filling in as a player. And in that role he tackled another player who, I presume, had the ball.

Unless you actually saw it, and saw him perform a totally unreasonable tackle, then I respectfully suggest you give the big fella a break. He’s already earned enough credits, in a short time, for his great work around the club.

So many jumping to conclusions that Rough maliciously went out of his way to injure Paton... I think a few deep breaths are needed.

If Rough was going soft on players and just acting like a witches hat and there were no injuries, the forum would be saying he was a waste of space.

It's a contact sport, injuries happen.

What a horror week this has been for injuries and Paton sounds like the worst of them, if it's a bad break that could just about be the season done for him.

.
Recover, hit the gym, spend some time in the coaches box and hopefully come back stronger in 2022.
Can’t drop our bundle over it, s**t week but this presents opportunities to players like Connelly/McKenzie/Webster and other who 4 years ago were probably starting 18 players.

We don't need to shift Clark back into defence. Connolly is already on the main list isn't he?

Webster Howard Long
Coffield Carlisle Wilkie.

: Frawley - Battle - Clavarino- Joyce.
: Highmore - McKenzie - Connolly Roberton?

No need for a specialist defender on the bench, Sinclair and Clark can spell them if needed. ( Backs usually play high TOG ) but it could be a chance to blood Connolly if he's showing form.

Paton. What a loss. Hard not to feel mega deflated about this season.

I'm terms of replacement, just don't know if we have one. If Sincs has been playing across half back maybe him? People have suggested DMac but he has been a complete liability in that position in the past.

Seriously, what a bummer.

I'd have long on green

Exactly. Greene is a frickin' grub, there was footage last time of him grabbing Paton's head (I think Paton) and pulling him down and giving a cheap little jabby uppercut that connected with the jaw. Went completely un-commented by the game callers even though there was a slow mo replay (not of that event specifically, it was just caught as part of a different play).

Would love to see Greene try that s**t with Long, he'd regret it I would wager.

We have the midfield depth to move Clark back, but I'd rather not do that personally.

Backs: Wilkie, Howard, Carlisle, Coffield, Long, Webster, Clark
Mids: Ryder, Steele, Ross, Billings, Hill, Dunstan, Sinclair, Hannebury/Jones/Bytel
Forwards: King, Membrey, McKernan, Butler, Higgins, Gresham, Lonie

Not selected but not (currently) injured: Crouch (suspended for Round 1), Roberton, Kent, Frawley, Allison, Wood, Highmore, McKenzie, Clavarino, Connolly, Joyce, Alabakis, Hunter (if listed).

Absolutely shattered for Paton, really hope this wont impact him long term as he looked an absolute beauty.

Focus should be 100% on his long-term recovery, don't want to see any shortcuts taken just because we might see ourselves as finals contenders.

Gives an opportunity for Webster or Highmore to have a really good look at senior footy this year.

Yes. Your first point is what really worries me.
Goose and Nathan Brown were never the same after sustaining really bad breaks.
Really hoping for the kid that this is not as bad.🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Geary will slot in perfectly when he's healthy. Last year there were occasions when we couldn't fit both Geary and Paton in the back six. Massive loss no doubt but not catastrophic.

Anyone got any positive news? Anyone play well at intra club?

Not at RSEA myself but have picked out these comments from the many posts over the last few pages
Allison looks terrific

Hunter destroyed Sal in Ruck, tapping and marking around ground. Kicked a couple snags too.

Nothing we can do about Paton but sit and wait for news, but I’d love to hear more about Allison and Hunter 👍🏻
