I'm not sold on marshall as number 1 ruck. i think his best position is a resting ruck. he just doesn't have the dominance or body for a full season.

i really hope the new kid comes on. we need an absolute bull in there, if ryder breaks we are effectively screwed.

if Bytel turns into a Libba type clearance machine it solves our midfield woes. Frees up Steele to be like Bont and go forward more, be a little classier and link up

When you look at other team's midfields, you can clearly see how we look in comparison.

Take Essendon for example.

Parish, Merrett, Stringer, Shiel, McGrath

They're miles ahead of us in that department.

We need to get some more class in there asap.

Stringer is unfit and lacks professionalism
Shiel kicks like a bag of spuds
McGrath is nothing but a glorified back pocket.

I disagree that Billings is easily covered. Was one of our best in the first half of the season then while he wasn't near his best in the 2nd half, his limited output was still better than what his replacements provide. We lack skilful, outside players which is what he is. Also a bonus that he plays wing but can also impact up forward. Worth a lot more than the 2nd round pick we would get for him as compo.

We may not have any say in the matter , by the looks it will just come down to money and I'm sure the recruitment manager's got a budget and he is going to stick to it.
A lot of these players saw Zac Williams get 900k a year contract last year and they are thinking along with their manager why can't we get close to that.

Wow just wow. Marshall was well beaten by Silvagni at the centre bounces and throwins & around the ground, he was well beaten by Stanley. Neither of those players are top ruckman. Silvagni got 2 votes in the sun on the monday after that game and Stanley was well and truly in the best players for geelong , he beat Hickey, broke even with Lycett, beaten by Mcinerny and Grundy and had basically 2 good games this year out of 12 . THis is below his standard. There has always been discussion about him being put up forward to provide a goal scoring boost and one poster mentioned he be tried at CHB, big flipping deal. Dropped off a bit was the description I used.

Yeah if he doesn't fix his goal kicking we need to go to plan B. Maybe that's it.

He is down a bit on his goalkicking, 2019 I think it was when he was a reliable kick for goal but his kicking accuracy has dropped off a bit since. I am sure the club should be able to fix this, be strange if they werent trying to do that.
