If you want a player that hits the scoreboard and can play further up the ground, I would go early on Hotton than taking George or Humphrey
Where do you rate Hotton? I have a feeling he will get to the 20s, seems like a reach to grab him at 10, is Hollands a similar type, where do you rate him?
Cheers
Remember the Dogs trading down from pick 13 to two second rounders?

Phillipou and Hollands top my (practical) wish list. Taking a bit more notice of the KPP, now it has been suggested we cooled on McAsey. My favorites are Hollands, Ginbey, Phillipou & George, any of these lads would be great additions at p10/11.
I agree Shepherd!i want Zibkowski. Just to hear people say and spell his name wrong.

Crows might consider moving down from pick 5(which they don't want to pay for Rankine) for our 11 and something next year?I would do that for Scheezel. I doubt we can get a pick high enough though. Clubs will expect us to move up next year so wouldn't value our future first that highly.
Do we trade 10 and 28 for 16 and 17 from swans or does the stocker news tell us to back away from there?

How about 11 and Setterfield for 5?
As they should.I dont mind something like this, but youve gotta think GC will want 5 plus interest for Rankine
What did SOS offer for an out of contract Jack Martin?
Jesus Christ I hate this line of argument. From a Mod especially.Every trade has risk associated. Every draft selection has risk associated. Doesn't mean you don't partake in them.
What's the point of having staff at the club identifying talent if you're not going to back them in when it counts?
It doesn’t mean it SHOULD be used either. They should work out what has gone wrong in those situations Both by our club and others. And what has worked. The fact it hasn't worked doesn't mean the mechanism can't or shouldn't be used.
The club should explore all avenues available to them, be it trade up, down, in or out.
Gotta consider the contract he's been offered. That is indicative of his value to Crows. What did SOS offer for an out of contract Jack Martin?
Similar situation.
I reckon 5 is slightly steep for what Rankine has delivered so far.
You mean like Mitch McGovern who we traded to Carlton despite having 2 years left on his contract, who you paid $800K per season for 5 years, for Pick 13 (that became Pick 16)Gotta consider the contract he's been offered. That is indicative of his value to Crows.

Unless you find a club willing to part with two picks in the top 20 for your pick 5 that is the most likely outcome for Rankine. You mean like Mitch McGovern who we traded to Carlton despite having 2 years left on his contract, who you paid $800K per season for 5 years, for Pick 13 (that became Pick 16)
The only reason you paid McGovern that much was because you had cap space, what you paid in draft picks was his actual value, and even then it was overrated.
Rankine warranted is younger, and he had a decent back half to the season, but he is nowhere near worth Pick 5 based on his current output.
We're only paying him $700-$800K per year because we're probably already struggling to pay the min 95% cap, and it's probably going to be heavily front-ended. What we're paying him does not come close to his trade value (which IMO is around Pick 10-15)
Just though I'd pull this over here in the draft thread. If we don't end up picking a KPF to release Curnow to the 3rd tall forward role, this trade and draft period...
1st Preference - Pick 10 Keeler KPF and Curnow as third tall forward
2nd preference - I'd love to draft a Gary Rohan type (less the going missing in finals)
A forward with elite pace, excellent mark and excellent shot for goal...
Who would be around the mark, that has these attributes at pick 28?
George likely gone by the... Also like the look of Henry from the pies, if he wants to leave...

I never said Juice couldn't express his opinion on this or anything else the club does. He's free to hold whatever opinion he wants.Jesus Christ I hate this line of argument. From a Mod especially.
What’s the point of having a Bigfooty Carlton page if you’re not able to express opinions about the things the club does?
It’s also really weak arguing. Saying “every trade has risks” does not add any value at all to the argument.
Oh ok then. Beauty. All trades have risks. So do whatever you want? And don’t comment on them bigfooty posters. Just back the club.
Or
How about this? Do as the poster was doing. Think through precious things the club has done. Analyse them. Express a view. Float for discussion. Reasonably expect reasonable discussion. Eg Jeremias:
“Not a bad point Juice. I can see why you’d be fun shy because we should have Young on the list. We did it before too with the Gibbs trade. It was a bit of a SOS special. His strategy was logically sound in that he wanted more first round picks. The problem was in the execution in that with those additional first round picks he made mistakes. And actually there is cause for pause on trading down.
But hey, thanks just my opinion expressed on this opinion site. And I’ll be *ed if I’m going to just write “well whatever the club reckons is fine by me.”
That may be the Adelaide view, not necessarily the view of the Suns, sure they will play hardball on your pick 5.Future 1st will be fine for Rankine, as it should fall between that range anyway
