Karl Amon would be a better wingman on 2/3rds of the price of Hill's 800-900k a year.

Hill won his BnF in a year at Freo where Ross' gameplan meant he was fed the ball at every opportunity - hasn't really fired a shot at the Saints and I generally feel uncomfortable paying that much for a purely outside player that doesn't really kick goals.

He had one excellent year in 2019 and has been no better than good in any other year in his career. He’s also on 900k a year.
He was excellent at Hawthorn and clearly we wouldn't be paying him that much.

Couldn't agree more, although they're slightly different types of players. Amon is a free agent which appeals big time.

Petracca not playing forward when Brayshaw is in the middle is poor coaching from Goody. Trac had some really solid games against Adelaide and Geelong playing forward then he goes back to like 90% midfield time. I know his finishing is poor from set shots but he’s such a difficult matchup 1on1.
You remember that essendon game 4 or 5 years ago where he kicked 4 on peak Hurley?

That's kinda what I imagine him doing twice a month.

Funny how he's so awkward on a set shot but he picks the ball up and pace and kicks, he's pretty lethal. Especially at clutch moments.

If Hill came cheaply in terms of salary/picks I'd be interested. He's flakey but a nice kick when going which we could use.
Wouldn't want to stump up for his whole salary atm
Trouble with Hill is what he can't do is starting to outweigh what he can do.

It's probably a testament to how good he was at his peak that he's still tagged pretty much every week though.

I'll retract this I didn't know he was on a 6 year deal that's mental

Yeah saints list management has been abysmal. That deal and the Hannerbery deal were just massive wastes of the salary cap (And in Hills case draft capital).
I wouldn't take him for 3 years for 900 that's nuts

That game at the dome was truly abysmal

I was at that game with my Dons mate and it was in that stretch of bizarro games we seemed to have with each other. Turnover after turnover after turnover. It was comical.

Daniher was up one end kicking 1.6 and a few OOF and Trac was slotting them from everywhere.

Yeah I reckon from memory it was after first Anzac eve game, and we had a 5 day break and they had 4.5 or something like that.

I was there too, and why I remember it so fondly was being close to marking the ball in the crowd.

Trouble was it was off olivers boot on the wing and gawn (who I assume he was aiming at) was about 8 rows in front of me.

Wonder is it's worth looking at Melican to release Petty forward.
Do we know Petty can play forward? We've got a sample size of what? 1.5 games from over two years ago?

Probably more likely to succeed than Smith, but if he doesn't and ends up returning to defence, what do we do with Melican?

My point is, we would want to be sure before trading in a player.

Melican wouldn't cost much anything

Rendell talking about players crows might have to give up to get Rankine and target Horne-Francis threw up Josh Rachele.

Would throw a heap at the crows to get him, exactly the kind of crafty midsize forward we need.

Rachele surely goes back to Norf as part of the deal for HF?
