As good as it is to have as many 30+ goal scorers as possible, I'm not really sure he fits a need for us. He's basically a tougher, less crafty Fritsch.Riley Beveridge from AFL just said it was more likely that Zuurhar leaves North than stays. And is more keen on staying in Vic than going home to WA. If that's true, we have to be all over him.

I don't but there's none out of contract, there's no rumours of any wanting to move back to MelbourneLol how do you know there's not good KPFs available? Not every name that is open to a move gets mentioned in the media, certainly not at this stage of the year.
But back to the point on TDK, I'd much rather throw ~$700KPA at him than pay that much for Grundy to come across.
If that's actually legit **** we need a piece of him he's a starRiley Beveridge from AFL just said it was more likely that Zuurhar leaves North than stays. And is more keen on staying in Vic than going home to WA. If that's true, we have to be all over him.

I saw somewhere he was supposedly off to Essendon, not sure how likely that may be now though.Riley Beveridge from AFL just said it was more likely that Zuurhar leaves North than stays. And is more keen on staying in Vic than going home to WA. If that's true, we have to be all over him.

We need tall, contested marking options more than anything, and whilst he's a good mark for his size (189cm), he isn't really what we need. Ranks very similarly to Fritsch (i.e. below average) in tackles, tackles inside 50 and pressure acts too, so we'd also be sacrificing forward pressure if he came into the side ahead of one of our half forwards.
I read a piece on it aswell but I feel there's always a player linked with EssendonI saw somewhere he was supposedly off to Essendon, not sure how likely that may be now though.
I'd like him too. Maybe if we go without 2/3 195cm+ blokes in the forward line we'll change up how we attack and open it up more. He and Fritsch would be very dangerous mid sizers.Fair points. I thought he was bigger than that. I still think he could complement Fritsch. I love his aggression and pressure without the ball.

Stainless steel, cast iron or granite, Les? Each have their merits, but I'm not sure how any of them will improve our marking inside 50.Kitchen sink.
Granite is heaviest so will be hardest for us to bomb 100m in the air (though won't stop us trying).Stainless steel, cast iron or granite, Les? Each have their merits, but I'm not sure how any of them will improve our marking inside 50.

Tom Hawkins has taken the second most contested marks of all-time, so I probably wouldn't include Geelong in here.Nup.
Still not understanding what's happening. If we bomb to a pocket with 7 guys there it doesn't matter who we have. By your logic we should just keep Gawn forward who's the best contested mark in the league and problem solved. Geelong, Collingwood and Sydney have Mason Cox and Sam Reid between them for talking marking forwards.
We need good forwards, ones who draw the footy, ones who can goal off the deck as well as beat an opponent
None of those contested marks came from high bombs to a pocket. They are one on one kicks to his advantage where he uses his body. Zurhaar could perform the same role.Tom Hawkins has taken the second most contested marks of all-time, so I probably wouldn't include Geelong in here.
I'm not necessarily against Zurhaar, but he'd likely take the bulk of the Jackson cap space, and with the way our gameplan is currently structured (once again, for better or worse), our priority needs to be big forwards who can take contested grabs, or at the very least not get outmarked. If we can somehow manoeuvre one of Gunston/Zurhaar and one big KPF/second ruck, brilliant, do it.
FWIW, it sounds like the plan is indeed to plonk Gawn down there more from next year onwards, as Goodwin has gone on record saying that he wants to continue playing two 'top-line rucks'. Unfortunately, if we do go down the Grundy path, I don't see how there's any way we can bring in another high quality forward, so we'll have to see.
Further to this, zuurhar is actually very good when the ball hits the deck too. For a bloke who's listed 190cm.None of those contested marks came from high bombs to a pocket. They are one on one kicks to his advantage where he uses his body. Zurhaar could perform the same role.
People get too carried away with height. Zurhaar is a powerful competitor and could play the role of key forward better than just about anyone on our list.Further to this, zuurhar is actually very good when the ball hits the deck too. For a bloke who's listed 190cm.
Yeah I think the mid sized "key" forward is a great point of difference. Be it Greene, peak Robbie Gray, papley this year.. it's not going to work every game, but neither is a 6'6 chf.People get too carried away with height. I'd love to see petracca thrown more forward and isolated with maybe fritch. Especially if brayshaw is going into the middle more
No doubt he's gonna kick 1.9 or something but still be fun to watch it work.
Brad Hill?
I reckon he is the icing on a cake playerReckon that's rubbish. He was a gun at Hawthorn and Freo.
Plus we don't need players who can 'stand up' when the chips are down. We need finishers who can capitalize on momentumReckon that's rubbish. He was a gun at Hawthorn and Freo.
