Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Pretty sure rookie upgrades count as picks so we don't even need to cut anyone even if we bring in Sharp.

Feels like someone is getting delisted and rookied though. Corbett and maybe Hamling seem the most likely. I wouldn't be surprised if Hammer got bites from other clubs. If McKay is triggering pick 3 then Hamling, even at his age, is easily getting games at some other teams.

Can I just say how devastated I am that to end off the most disappointing season in ages with minimal list changes.

Looks like we're taking a max of 3 at the draft which gives us very little shiny to get excited about.

Let's just axe some blokes so we get some presents.

Edit: lets hope that JoM and/or Brodie story has legs. Nothing against them, I just want to enjoy October and November as a footy fan.

The excitement for next season is based off Jackson getting in the midfield, Amiss and Erasmus stepping out of the gym looking like a stack of river rocks in a stocking and Nathan Fyfe training with the mids during preseason.

I think if anyone actually thought Fyfe was coming back even 90%, I'd be onboard with that. Reckon he plays less than 10 games at about 70%.

Coming off a brutal off season where Logue, Lobb and Acres asked to be traded, would love a quiet off season.
Sharp to replace Henry, at least with list management in mind, would be nice.
Brockman seems West Coast bound.

Colyer, Wilson, Benning all delisted with Henry traded is still a big shift.

Waiting on Hamling another.

Isn't 4 basically the historical minimum?

Might end up with too many 2023 picks at this rate. Maybe we trade in future picks for a change.

I think we need to play him permanently as the super sub. Bring him on start/middle of third. Maybe not at all if we are winning easily. He simply will not last trying to run out full games every week.

Gold Coast had interest in Wilson last year. Doubt they still would though. He’s one that could still play at AFL level but I feel like his position is one that clubs aren’t ever really chasing.

Daicos and Sheziell etc have proven that the half back flank is the easiest position on the ground that can be played by a light bodied first year player. So there won't be much market for a guy who is aged 30+ unfortunately.

I agree but with a caveat. I’d be stoked if we just brought in 2 top 20 kids. I don’t care if we trade a future 1st at this point. We are at the point where we have plenty of depth and only need to introduce high end talent.

If we could somehow manufacture two picks between 10-20 (inclusive of the academy bids), that would be ideal.

Next year free agents. Then flag, flag, flag, flag, flag. Done.

Honestly I think Bell has jumped the shark. I think he needs to quit. Prioritizing JOM over Acres was clearly a mistake. Now readily expressing that Henry will be given up cheaply. Returning the failed Hughes to the wing. Honestly STFU.

JOM was to replace Mundy. heard rumors Mundy wanted to play on

Acres was just because he wanted more money and he was a pain in the arse to manage.

Jackson a forward is still a weapon. Would love Reidy and Knobel to have big pre seasons. Jackson and Darcy is a great foil to have for Treacy and Amiss. Treacy second ruck isn’t ideal.
It's as if everyone has listened to Kane and just gone along with it. I think he has more impact in the forward/ruck/mid role than the ruck role.

Not the worst idea, but that would kind of imply that he is cooked.

I suppose if he can only sustain 90% for half a game on average then it could be really effective.

you have a short definition for the word "ages"

It was disappointing but not terrible.
Nah easily the most disappointing season for me in the last decade. This year was a perfect storm of high expectations, low performance made worse by a ridiculously even comp (we should have finished 10th-12th with our record) and the fact that we traded our first two picks.

I knew the Hawks were better in 2013-2015. We did well with what we had. I knew (partly because of squiggle) that we were gone in 2016 and adjusted my expectations.

i'd reckon the last couple of games by Hammers have saved his bacon - he'd surely have been delisted last night if he was going with the other veterans.

Looked like some good back up tbh. If he can stay fit he'll be around the 22.
Probably need another year or 2 for Davies and Draper to develop so could be useful KPD back up if required or if Cox needs to be swung forward

Think the veterans list did it more than anything. He was playing good footy at Peel all year but the spots were tight

Stanley apparently signed for 18 months when we drafted him according to one of our media team
Unless I am missinterpeting, 18 months would take him to end of 2024 which isn't right because he just got extended to end of 2024. So he likely just got the 6 month contract.
