This clearly shows that proper membership haven't really risen at all, bullshit memberships have increased though.

So, we are counting Auskick free memberships now? Right.

Also, AFLW seems to go down from 2022 to 2023...

20k bump in Auskick. lol

My wife received her 2024 renewal email already. Auto renews on 10 October.

Yeah got mine as well, even though I took myself off auto-renewal two years ago.

For those wondering how meaningless the "club record" is:

291h8ze8zkmb1.jpg

the only clubs who didnt break their record are west coast (spoon with a percentage of 50), richmond and hawthorn (who have both come off major premiership success and would have had a fair few bandwagoners drop off).

For the record

The 1,264,952 number surpasses the all-time record of 1,190,671 that was set last year (+6.2 per cent).

The 2023 total number consists of 852,678 adults, 103,966 concession members and 308,308 juniors.

breakdown-jpg.1795199

Under AFLW member's it says - AFLW is Season 8 Year to Date.

Last year the AFL included 70,275 AFLW members of which 48,712 was for season 6 and the rest for season 7 memberships sold before season 7 kicked off, which made some sense as the 4 new clubs sold AFLW memberships for the first time. This AFL women story said the combined total at end of November 2022 was 75,568 and Port had 7th biggest 4,782 despite only selling memberships for one season.

Then you have this statement that confirms the BS memberships counted as it just increases the churn rate.

1694143734620.png

So the churn rate 1,190,671 2022 members - 888,588 that renewed / 1,190,671 = 302,083/1,190,761 = 25.4%

Look at the dumb smiley face, 302k not renewing and another 330k getting mickey mouse membership this year is good for the executives bonuses KPIs.

1694143582205.png

So the churn rate in 2022 was 1,113,441 2021 members - 939,104 that renewed / 1,113,441 = 174,337/1,113,441 = 15.7%

20 years ago when there were less of these mickey mouse memberships the churn rate was about 9% and Bucky would say that Port's is well below that at about 4%.

And this bullshit from the AFL - "Auskick Memberships exploded with more kids playing and participating than ever, 31.9 per cent year on year growth (108,437 in 2023 v 82,234)." There are about 250k kids who do Auskick. Have been those sorts of numbers, for several years outside Covid couple of years. They just handed out more freebie memberships this year

Its why they can say 15 clubs have a new record.

Finishing bottom of the ladder has really seen the bandwagoners jump off the Eagles. They have had a shocking result, only 103,275 members after finishing 18th when last year they had 102,897  finished 17th but topped the membership count. ;). They are bullproof. Unlike everyone else who took a bit of a hit in 2020 they increased by 10k to just crack 100k for the first time and had 106, 422 in 2021.

I know that is The_Wookie's graph but its not 100% accurate re country members and AFLW members.

I have kept the breakdown numbers for the years since the AFL presented them. Guess they were scared of bad PR in 2020 and also 2021. 2017 they were just probably too lazy.

Pretty sure the stadium members includes the potentially full sellout memberships of 8k at AO, 1.38k at Perth Stadium and 5k Medallion club members at Docklands, as AFL took that over in November 2016.

Edit: looking at the numbers after doing the Port adjustment, that AO probably sold 7.5k football memberships, the stadium members probably are them plus the 5k Medallion club members at a stadium owned by the AFL, as that equals 12.5k. So the 1.38k Perth Stadium members aren't counted as they are 12 month venue memberships like the Audi Club 1.45k members at AO.

The usual downward adjustment is 72% of 8,000 AO Football Members = 5,760

This year the downward adjustment for Port's total is 69,457- 64,041 = 5,416

That means the SMA which only sold about 6,400 memberships last year, looks like they have bounced back this year, ie 5,416/0.72 = 7520 approx sold.

So Ports total contains approx 2,100 AOFM and crows 5,400 AOFM

Edit just found this from Richo's announcement about the record membership numbers.

The primary difference between Port Adelaide’s official club member number, and the AFL audited number, is the allocation of the Adelaide Oval stadium members who have access to all the Port Adelaide games, with Port Adelaide allocated 2,584 (32.3%) of the 8,000 members.

So Port 2,584, crows 5,416, which is the doward adjustment difference I calculated in my 2nd sentence above.

2023
Adelaide...... 68,536 - 5,416 AOFM = 63,120
Port Adelaide 64,041 - 2,584 AOFM = 61,457

2022
Last year the downward adjustment is 63,240 - 58,643 = 4,597. SMA only sold about 6,400 memberships

Edit Port's final unaudited count

f8a94d52-1d65-456b-9869-d2c34b705b9c.png

Adelaide...... 63,009 (2021 60,232 - up 2,777).. - 4,600 AOFM = 58,409
Port Adelaide 58,643^ (2021 56,532 - up 2,111) - 1,800 AOFM = 56,843

Country members havent been reported since 2016. This was almost certainly merged into reduced access.

The 2022 AFLW membership as posted to the AFL infographic is as shown on my graph, i just forgot to add labels to the AFL data.

Also my AFL membeship for 2019 is out by 10k because i misread the infographic due to resolution and poor eyesight lol.

I think 2021 they just didnt see the point due to COVID. Not sure why there wasnt one for 2017.

I have the link to all these graphics on AFL website but forgot to put them in my post.

Fundamental point over the 7 years, there has been a marginal increase in 11+ games memberships. Lots of reduced access and the mickey mouse ones handed out at Auskick, are driving the increase.

Me too. I just went into my account and removed the credit card details.
Lol mine got charged even after I removed my details. They literally scammed me.

I edited my post #1,186 above as the 28/72 AO Footy Members split, Richo in the club article about our membership total linked below says it was 32.3%

“Welcoming over 15,000 new members to Port Adelaide with significant growth in critical demographics to build the next generation, whilst ensuring we remain strongly focused on servicing our loyal long-term members, is critical to us achieving our ambitious growth targets over the next few years.

Now I reckon about 3k to 5k of that 15k is new AFLW members, given we registered about 4,700 last year.

10k to 12k over about 58k men's team membership from 2022 means we have a churn rate of about 18% - in line with what is happing across the AFL with these Mickey Mouse memberships now sold/counted, but a long way from the 4% Bucky used to talk about, 20 years ago.

Yeah got mine as well, even though I took myself off auto-renewal two years ago.

They sent me mine same day, and also a renewal notice in the post. They do appear to have finally removed me from auto-renewal though. The email and the postage form come across more as the club pleading for me to renew than anything else.

I was emailed a month ago saying I was off auto renewal, only to receive a thing in the mail last week saying my auto renewal will come out next month.

Thankfully, the credit card on the account expired last month.

So the dodgy pricks will get nothing.
Suck my balls.

They literally don't take you off auto renew. Ever. It's just a flat out lie.

I literally deleted my card from my profile, and they still charged me. I would think that is insanely illegal as it means they stored my card details somewhere even after deletion from my profile.

I warn anyone who isn't going to renew, to specifically request that card details are removed from all records to avoid this.
