I think it was a matter that we had a number of wins where we won, but probably shouldn't have during that 13 game win streak.

Yeah, kinda happens when you've had a short-term heart condition and managing a degenerative knee problem, and have 3 young guns plus a very good defensive mid taking over the centre square. He's part of the rotation now.

You can hedge your bets 50/50. It's either that, or they think he is so bad that three Brownlow votes seems just as likely.

My cousin was a gun teal cup player, dreamt of being a port player all his life, ports wooed him & he was expected to be a first rounder, but he stopped growing early, was a similar size to Neale, port passed on him & Sydney grabbed him, but he hated living in the big smoke & quit. He was very bitter to ports after.
His younger brother was even better & refused to select for the draft, happy just to be captain/ coach at cleve.

In the end you can only get 3 votes a game. So whether you get 40 & 3 in 10 games or whether you get 25 & 0 in 10 games, if you are best on ground you are getting 30 votes.

He was 5th favourite. People are acting like he was $101 to win it

His game doesn't look bad on paper. 9 marks, 4.2, 1 point off being the highest zoopercoach scorer.

I think the reaction is more its just a guy you would never expect to poll, like if Clurey or Jonas got a 3.

Philips getting 3 Brownlow votes when he teamed up with Draper against Grundy.

Draper kicked 3 goals to Phillips 2.
Draper had more disposals.
Phillips got 21 hitouts to Draper 18. Grundy had 24.

Everyone singling out JHFs 3 votes against Geelong but this one is almost as weird.

If you take out the game where Neale gets 3 Brownlow votes but no coaches votes, and give Butters the 3 votes where he missed out after getting a perfect 10 from the coaches.. he wins the Brownlow on 30 lol

If you look at the games where players got 3 votes from the scumps but no coaches there's some corkers.

Tim English 3 votes for 30 hitouts, 1 goal and 11 touches.
His opponent Ned Reeves had 43 hitouts and 15 touches lol

I think what has been proved here, like every year, umpires in general have no real feel for the game.
