Their favour to us is paying gresham to get him from band 2 to band 1. Our favour to them is taking Shiel off their books. If they want more than that we are better off taking the band 2 and running imo.If Gresham doesn't even arract band 2 there is no point in letting him go to begin with.
We don’t know yet how much of a favour the Shiel part is. It’s only speculation and we do know that they had a war chest, whether they may now be closer to spending it.

Just can’t see Essendon being able to do that deal with nothing going back. It’s the equivalent to the nuffy Essendon fans claiming the reverse.

North not getting band 1 for McKay would be some sweet sweet justice after getting that bs assistance package. That plus Essendon would have to use their first to get him.

It wouldn't go down like that but it would be the dream.

I really think we should try to use our Gresh compo pick and Howard to get North's McKay compo pick.

They grab McKercher at 2, we grab Sanders at 3 or the reverse, they get Howard to replace McKay and still have a first round pick, everyone is happy.

Getting rid of Howard is a bit risky for us though, we're not exactly flush with mobile tall backmen. I'd be happy if he stayed, but if he gets us the gun mid we're crying out for, so be it and we'll have to cross our fingers Cordy can hold the fort and Van Es comes on well.

Sanders is nowhere near a pick 3. McKercher probably behind Curtin too and not a certain pick 3 or 4. North could go for Caddy or Watson even, someone with a bit more scoring power as they have an incredibly stacked inside brigade now. LDU, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Phillips and Thomas and then depth with guys like Greenwood and pile of others. At least 4 look like they should be potential stars and the other is their captain.

Yeah, it is hard to tell where we are. Feels like we are two good players away from being a top 4 contender or 2 bad injuries away from being bottom 8.

I don't like trading future 1st either but in this draft anyway, 12 seems to be in no man's land.

I reckon this is a very even draft around 6 to 20 or something. I'd like Windsor and Demattia or one of those types. I reckon they might end up being a pretty good players. Unless you are getting right up into the top 5 I can't see and reason to trade up. Even then McKercher or Reid are the only ones I'd actually want to move up for.

Yeah, I would only consider trading future first for top 5. Any chance we could get McKercher and it would be worth exploring I reckon. I get that 6 - 20 range will have good options but I am thinking in terms of trying to get a high potential A grader.

Not really.

It’s a thinly veiled threat to the club.

Get better…. Quickly, or lose them.

I.e trade them

Well no, it's sell them now or tank next season to keep them. It's a risky move by the AFL, if they can't get a deal they'll be tanking hard.

Fair enough.

North will want to trade them this year in case they risk losing them next year.

North have been difficult to trade with. They will ask for plenty.
Especially since RTB had a bit to say about it :)
