Of not seen Ryan or Beecken, anyone who has care to share some info, do they offer anything we don’t have and how ready for AFL football
Can’t comment on Beecken, but Ryan is a guy that wins the contested ball and clearance, has a will to move the ball forward and kick goals, can kick, and applies defensive pressure. Really should be on an AFL list already

I believe Mutineer really liked him in his draft year, and thought he'd be a much better player than his predicted draft position?? And then he was very unlucky to not be picked.

Draft profile (2 years ago I think??)

Kobe Ryan is a consistent ball-winning machine who racks up massive numbers, credit to his high work rate and ability to get into the right spots. He is traditionally an inside midfielder, but has been utilised in a number of roles across his career, with some eye-catching strengths but also some needed improvements.

A member of the West Adelaide on-ball brigade, Ryan played four League matches where he averaged 18 disposals and around three clearances per match. At Reserves level, those numbers rose to 25.8 and 4.8 respectively, then across eight games at Under 18s level, Ryan smashed out 30 and 6.9.

The numbers are mind-boggling and when put side-by-side, there are few players who could match his sheer production. In the Under 18s, his lowest disposal count was 23, and in one match he had 37 disposals, nine marks, 10 clearances, eight tackles and two goals. Along with his high production, Ryan has clean hands and generally makes good decisions.

However, Ryan also is still lightly built at just 73kg, and is an inconsistent kick which is an area to work on for the future. He showed he is capable of matching it with the best, and was one of the top State Combine invitees, but his best position is unknown and he has plenty of room to improve.

Pass.

He’s not exactly strongly built currently, but he’s got time to improve that

He’s 185cm according to the SANFL website, so he’s got a decent build to work with
Seems he's put on 5kg in 2 years (18 months?) In the semi-professional SANFL system.

78kg doesn't seem too small for a young 185cm mid who hasn't been in an AFL system yet.

Oscar Ryan is taller and lighter and some are calling for him to debut.

You're not going to find a young mid who gets lots of ball, is well built, a good size and a good kick in the middle of the mid-season draft. Those guys have already been drafted. You need to take a somewhat speculative pick. Better taking someone with some top-level traits and seeing how they develop in a more professional environment.

Ryan seems a genuine footballer, which is a tick in my book.

He has never seemed over awed as he's moved up in standard, so he seems a good type to try for a period.

Personally, I hope we take all three picks. It's almost no chance all three demand to stay on the list at the end of the season, so we're better off taking a few bites at it.
