Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.

I think Green showed some consistency at the back end of the year. Looks to also have put on some size in the shoulders and back in the offseason. Also going on from the draft comments in the media thread re 1st round drafting the last couple of years.
I don't think it's fair to evaluate Green just yet, however I get it. That's why I personally wouldn't draft a ruckman in almost ALL circumstances. Takes too long to develop and typically you get no return, someone else will.
That's an entirely different topic that I am passionate about
Anyway, Green needs to come on this season, I agree. I thought his progress through this season was huge though. And then when you look at the Swans aren't missing out here. I mean are we going on complete hindsight about not drafting a Logan Morris? Well put every club down on that one.
Dattoli is still actually the right selection. No one else behind him is outperforming him if we're being honest. He had an injury coming into the year so he was never, ever going to play from the start.
This year is going to be a big one for both of them, but just remember, this team is going to be gunning for a premiership and there are only 23 spots.
2023 - #16 Will Green (0 Games)
Players selected above him with less than 10 games = 2
Players selected 15 selection after him with more than 10 games = 8 (2 being academy selections Cleary/Graham)
2024 - #22 Jesse Dattoli (3 games)
Players selected above him with less than 10 games = 8 (2 others with 10 games)
Players selected 15 selection after him with more than 10 games = 3 (all have 11 games total)
Now that the trade year is over, I would like to see some of this thinking move to solving the worlds problems or at the very least, calculate the singularity and it’s after effects.
I think waste(packaging included) needs to be valued such that it is worth recycling by everyone.I think products should be taxed based on their packaging content and the cost of recycling it.
That type of thing?

Look what the rats did to Jack Steele100%.
Brisbane win the three peat & Eddie started his campaign to rid us of the cola. Now lie & behold, the unthinkable has happened & an interstate team has won premierships again. Must be the the Academies.
Not the father/ son rule, the academies.
You see if you go hard at the father /son, then that hurts the VIC teams.
Bassat is a fwit that runs a club with no soul.
They went back to a coach who is past it, gone all chips in with the enticing of “big name” recruits with ridiculous money & expect that to rectify the lack of soul in the place.
The only type of soul I can see at the Saints is Bassat himself.
The R Soul!
The whole giving of a grade to a draft haul five minutes after the draft is complete is a concept bizarre to me. Wait two, three, four, ten years. It's interesting how commentators grade a draft "haul" - against what? It's not difficult to do well if you have 5 first rounders, in fact it's a fail if you don't. If you have picks like the Pies 50+ getting anyone top notch who isn't tied is near a miracle.
We had 4 decent draftable kids tied to us, had to lose one, yet picked up three untied others, all of whom show high potential upside and competitivness. It's not hard (at this stage) to see all of these playing seniors in the future and it's been a while since I felt that!
Plus all of them look happy to be here!
To me that rates better than B or C+.

That has been the case for the past 2-3 years only. It’s fine for content after the draft and to be fair nice to see
Though it’s not hard for GC to get an A most years
Why is it “nice to see”? It’s meaningless content for the sake of content. It’s fine for content after the draft and to be fair nice to see

I'm happy to give Port an F.
They failed to even sit the exam.

Gee wizz Cally its not even 26 lol a lot of goals to go through the big sticks before thenI can't remember whether it was this thread or somewhere else that someone listed the names of the senior players who are out of contract at the end of 2026 and posed the question which 3 do we delist? The focus was on the senior listed players, not the rookies (because you have to open up 3 ND draft spots). However, the point that I wanted to add is, you don't have to focus on the senior list. You can make space on the rookie list and then shuffle your senior players to the rookie list (as we did with Lloyd and Rampe this year).
To answer the original question: Rampe, Lloyd, Hamling, Cunningham and Adams are all candidates to retire (with perhaps Cunningham and Lloyd the most likely to get another contract). The point that Rampe, Lloyd and Hamling are on the rookie list is semi-moot because, as above, their retirement/delisting would open up rookie list spots and then senior players could be moved to the rookie list to open up the requisite senior spots. However, I do think that as things stand right now, the turnover of the list is looking to be lower than usual next post-season.
You can grade intent from a draft to some extent. E.g. did a club look like it was trying to address list needs? There's been drafts where this hasn't seemed to factor much or speculative picks were floated by the club to fill a need haven't worked out e.g. 2022.
With Kyle and Cootee, then Hetherton, and smaller "tall" options in King and Chamberlain, we look like we tried to address inside mid and KPF. The latter two, plus Phillipou, address medium forward to an extent, at opposite ends of the height range. Jevan might eventually play a bit of senior midfield.
I'd have liked a more proven, beast inside mid, but can't say we haven't at least brought in a few options for the position.
Probably the one needs area that wasn't addressed via trade or draft is medium defender, more a lockdown type, having lost Fox, Paton, hybrid Leidler, and Rampe on the way out. Maybe Kyle will end up doing this but suspect he was drafted for further up the field. Maybe Serong plays this role in the short term at least, if Mills goes back into the mids.
