Pendelbury is the likely Collingwood player to leave. Swan will not quit Collingwood, and Thomas is a good player in a good team, but may find it harder in a struggling one.

Can see either Rich and Mitch Clarke going, maybe both. Brisbane players seems to be unhappy in their current club at the moment.

Tom Scully sounds suspicious when he's holding off contract negotiations until season's end. Not many second year players do this these days. Not going to go out and say he's signed with GWS though.

Rhys Palmer might, from Fremantle. Depends on this season, I guess, and he's out of contract at the end of 2011.

Can someone tell me when Sam Mitchell is contracted until?

Not to mention that Rich would be a waste of money. Peaked in his first couple of weeks and looks less impressive every day since.

Translation.

I'm still bitter & twisted that Rich buried Carlton in a final.

I remember the Rich article, but either you link the Murphy and Scully articles or I call BS

Scully isn't signing any contracts until the end of the year. That doesn't say anything about the GWS, it just says that he's being smart. Why sign a contract now when he'll most likely demand much more at the end of the year? Gary Ablett was different because his value was already completely known.

Melbourne have also frontloaded a lot of expensive players like Morton, Grimes, Frawley, Sylvia and some others so that when the youngest batch like Scully and Trengove require significant contracts, we'll be able to give it to them. No, we probably can't match GWS dollar for dollar, but we're much closer to achieving success than they are and for the ultimate professional like young Tom, that'll be a significant factor.

Bit unfair. Rich still has plenty of time to prove himself. He has all the traits in place to become a very good footballer

Lets accept that some players have at least agreed in principle to go. Same picture as Gold Coast. The names came out fairly early in the year and proved largely to be correct.

The players will come from the group who remain uncontracted for 2012 obviously

Split these groups into

1. Players who have agreed in principle to go to GWS (In hindsight read Brown, Harbrow, Ablett, Bock from last year)

2 Players who are not going but dont want to commit yet to their current club to ratchet up the worth of their next contract

Its anyones guess who falls into which group but group 2 will progressively sign up as 2011 passes and it will become fairly apparent who is leaving. Announcements like Selwoods signing last year will lead to great relief for supporters

As it stands Pendles Thomas Murphy Swan and Scully are all in the firing line and I would expect 1-2 of them are already gone. Anybody not signed by June July is almost certainly gone IMHO

So Scully hasn't been in negotiations and put them off then. Rather it is understood that he wants to try and perform well and earn the big dollars. Very understandable out of a second year no.1 draft pick who has already performed this year.

Regarding Murphy there was this article:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/marc-murphy-in-gws-sights/story-e6frf9jf-1225969444316

That only uses "industry sources". Refuted by Carlton CEO (wasn't going to say anything different, but at least they quickly put replied) here

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...ve-to-gws-giants/story-e6frf9jf-1225970797492

This from Murphy himself before there was any rumours about him going to GWS:
"I would like to finish my career as a one-club player as Grandpa did. I know there are times when Dad wishes he had stayed with Fitzroy."

I'm not 100% tbh but I do think it is until season 2012 and for some reason this is the one player that I do think will go and I can't believe I am even saying it (feels like blasphemy).

With Mark Williams on as an assistant, you would think that one of the targets would be a Port Adelaide player.

I'd reckon one of Hamish Hartlett or Jackson Trengove would be right in the mix.

Scully ? No chance, absolutely zero chance. Knowing that silly old fool sheedy he`d be targeting Essendon and Richmond players, for the simple reason that both clubs gave him the arse, now remember this is the bloke who has an ego only matched by e.mcguire, so he would love to have a crack at the two clubs who ****ed him off, good luck kevvy, especially with Essendon`s unspectacular list, and as for richmond......
Murphy is a big chance, especially if they offer the captaincy....

I think it will be Rich, Scully and Murphy and a couple of fill in players like Hill.
Rich said he was unsure what he wants to do and wont talk contracts until years end,
Scully and Murphy were in negotiations and have put them off until years end.

Will be very surprised if Rich goes after saying that. A lot more worried about Mitch Clark.
"I love the club and I love playing with all the boys, we're a family up here in Brisbane and definitely I'm looking forward to years to come at the footy club," the left-footer said.

"Young list, good leaders, good coach, the footy club is on a good track so I can't wait to push forward and win a premiership in years to come."

Hypothetically what compo would either Swan/Pendles/Daisy be worth?

end of first round + mid first round pick?

Campbell Brown was worth end of first round and Gazza was mid first round + first round immediately after your first selection. So somewhere inbetween?
