I agree, I thought he played well. On one occasion I think Amiss marked and Wagner ran into space dead in front waving his arms but the player with the ball didn't look up, took the shot and missed!
I’m pretty sure that was Murphy Reid who turned his back on the play after taking a mark.
It was disappointing because he was beyond his maximum range.

One thing I don’t like is we have a potential future Coleman Medallist in Treacy and JL is playing him as high up the ground as possible, whilst Amiss is playing the deep full forward role and clearly struggling. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Great mark in the last 30 seconds though!
4 game winning streak eh

Fun stat for Richo.

He played 13 games in Perth in his entire career. The same number we get to play this year.

152 games at the MCG, 43 at Docklands (Marvel Stadium)
Richo - 282 games - 228 games in Victoria, 54 outside Victoria. 80% of games in Vic.

Pavlich - 353 games - 198 games in WA, 155 outside WA. 55% of games in WA.

Mundy - 376 games - 203 games in WA, 173 outside WA. 54% of games in WA.

So unfair we get 1 extra home game

The only fair criticism of the set up is it should be two Vic clubs a year on a rolling basis playing a home game in WA. Its unfair a small Vic team is doing it just to stay solvent.
But, this VFL club have been insolvent since before the Eagles and Bears.
Same as St Kilda.
In 87, there were 7 VFL clubs insolvent.
Why do you reckon Hawthorn, North and Saints are almost staying afloat.
Why are Melbourne sellung games in the Territory.
The MFC were hand fed for a very long time by the AFL to stay afloat. CEO, coach, players, money.
There is not one struggling VFL club that gets any sympathy from me.
Can't stand in their own...... stiff bickies.

The start of the last is -
Free kick (HTB on Ryan) = goal.
Free kick (front on by Cox) = goal
Free kick on wing (HTB by Voss?) = goal

At least both the HTB were pick up and tackled immediately.
I agree with the Voss holding the ball, it was right in front of me, but the other 2 I couldn't wrap my head around.

In saying that the way they called the Voss holding the ball was weird. Must have been the non controlling umpire as the closest umpire gestured as if it was going to be a holding free kick our way and the call came very late.

Luke Ryan was def HTB. Went in slow motion for some reason. Had prior opportunity for sure.

Not 100% sold on the Cox Free kick against. It looked like a free kick but on replay he got pretty much all ball. It was a bit dumb that by Cox. They showed the lead in and he half went forward to try and impact the player in front when he never could and Larkey was clever dropping back. If Cox just stuck to Larkey it would have been much easier for him to impact.

It was. I noticed the umpire ~30m away on our 50 signal htb. I have no idea how he could tell since there would have been a number of players potentially obstructing his view.

Just finished rewatching the game, so a few thoughts that echo others;
  • Draper was quite poor, wouldn't be surprised to see him get dropped for Davies or McDonald
  • Darcy was more important than I realised, still a long way from his best footy but Jackson got monstered by Xerri
  • Frederick didn't have his best game, and I wish he'd put more physical pressure on, but subbing him out seemed unlikely as he always offers some run and defenders have to respect him
  • The umpiring in the last quarter wasn't particularly consistent, but we had a few potential high free kicks against us not called at least partially balancing some harsh HTB and a pretty blatant hold on Brayshaw i50
  • Switta was very good, had a lot of nice moments so will be annoying if he's actually done his hammy

You could make a strong case against Freo on all those free kicks. The one that bothered me was Freddie's chase down late in the game. Ryan's was htb and this was probably even longer.

Freddie behind the ball late is a weird one. Just seems odd AF choice but 2 close games he's come up with big plays at the death. Lol maybe JL is a master tactician afterall.....

Agree with all bar your first point. It ain't gonna happen.

The Jye Amiss missed kick at goal in the 4th when they had a run of 2 or 3 goals on us was just downright shocking.
That was simply unforgivable for a guy whose primary job is to kick routine goals. It not like he’s running around doing a load of other work too.

That round the corner kick from 15-20 meters out on your stronger side (which Jye was on) has become as straightforward as shelling peas for the top line AFL forwards nowadays. It’s like a 4 foot put in golf for a pro player with no break.
When I think of other good teams - players like Cameron, Mihocek, Elliot, Hogan, Tex Walker, even Mabior Chol - when key moments like that arrive in their big games - they are almost never missing that shot. 98 times out of 100 it would be kicked by any of those players in that scenario.

I don’t actually know what the solution is with Jye now. As far as I’m concerned he’s going backwards and was a much better footballer in 2023 than he is today in 2025. I’m not sure what that says about him or the footy club and its development of him.

I think he’s got mental problems with the game at the moment, and I’m also wondering if he’s got talent/ability question marks too at this point?
Let’s be brutally honest here - Patrick Voss is a long way ahead of Amiss right now.
Even the VERY best forwards don't kick 98/100....except for brief periods, never 98 goal runs!
80/100 over a whole career would be legendary.
They also get the yips!
Jye is still on track to be a gun!

I would say none of our key forwards are great at snapping around the corner. Voss and JT look awkward doing it. Apart from Sonny you know who was surprisingly awesome at it.. tabs! Left or right he could snap with the best (only from a mark or fk)

Watched a little bit after the game (I know I'm a sucker for pain).

FMD Papalia is a piece of shit, just openly barracks for whoever we are playing.

Also didn't notice at the time how much we got ****ed over by the maggots (again). Too many inconsistencies to even mention.

This is the problem though, we keep letting the games get close which gives them the chance to **** us over.

Papalia is the best play by play caller of the game. You are confusing adding excitement in commentary as the game got close with barracking.
