No it won't.Pick 2,19 and a couple of round two picks. We hopefully will see Burgiel who has been injured all year play plus Culley hopefully will be over his acl and Ginbey will be back at the start of the year.Maric will have a full pre season and already showing he is going to be a good player. All we need is a year without injury dramas and we should improve.
North inline to get pick 2 for compo of McKay leaving

Does it?

Don't get me wrong, I was all in the Reid camp but I'll piss myself laughing if North don't end up with Band 1 and go Reid anyway and screw their backline for another 5 years.

Intentionally throwing games to remain a chance a #1 just breeds a loser's mindset.
You can't be that daft?

We've already said if we don't get Band 1 compo for McKay, then we keep him. If we decide to match the offer then he stays with us.
So we'd get Reid, keep McKay, plus the PPs' we'll get because no other team has finished last 3 years in a row in the modern era.

Why not just trade pick #1 for a 'bounty'? You know, the same 'bounty' the Vic media have been telling WCE they should trade pick #1 for, if they had it?

Because North are more concerned with picking up a potential 'superstar' player, who doesn't address their main list needs, than building a proper list, that's why.

None of the 18 clubs would pass on Reid if he's available at their pick. We're no different.

We don't need a bounty. We'll have pick 1, Band 1 comp if McKay leaves which would be pick 2, the PP, and Ports 1st round selection. That's 4 picks in the first round.

What PP?

You're just assuming.

Perhaps the AFL will tell you that you can trade pick #1, as clubs are desperately after it.

Reid would be a luxury for North, not a necessity.

Essendon likely won't offer enough to trigger band 1 and don't want to trade for him either.

North get to keep their guy and might get Sanders as a pre-list.

More midfielders. Yay.

Not assuming. It's based on precedent. 3 spoons in a row. Other teams have been given first round PPs and haven't been as bad as us.

LOL! Force us to trade pick 1. Never happened before. Won't be starting this year.

Maybe, but he's too good not to take. We'd cop a belting if we were in pole position to take him, and we didn't.

Fine with us. That says the Bombers don't want him badly enough if they don't want to pay him more than we've offered him.

That. And pick 1. And a PP. And Port's first. Happy days!

For band 1 compo McKay needs to be around the Top 5% of earners at his new club, unless the AFL approve it as a form of priority pick.

Not sure that’s likely tbh.

They won't get band 1 but they also won't get something like at the end of the first round.

The AFL will come up with a compromise somewhere in the middle (around pick 11) I would guess.

But who actually knows for sure
