Wait a Minute, I think I know why we've perhaps got our delay. They're working on this at the same time and trying to finish that game too.
You'd think they'd be aware how many games they have on the go when they announce release dates though.

I mean, If they are in the shit and really badly so. You'd think that the game will get canned and the license is either going to someone else (potentially Big Ant perhaps?) or this might be the end of the road for AFL games and we'll have to get our Sports Fixes from elsewhere.

If it sinks the AFL will probably just can the games. It's amazing that the AFL are so balls deep in everything social media and recognise the potential of it and what a wide reach it has, yet are so ignorant of video games and the potential advertising effect a good game can have.

And they were working on that age of empires remake as well

Surely it’s asking a bit much for them to be working on 3 games at once (unless Evo 2 has been more or less finished for some time)

To be fair, an entire studio isn't going to be working on the same project at once. Everyone has a specific role and they aren't required for 100% of a project.

ok so it was obviously delayed because they were doing AOE II Definitive Edition which is understandable. I think the latest AFL game sold like 50,000 copies. has anyone ever seen sale numbers? i remember doing a calculation based off a trophy achieved during the game to roughly work out how many were sold but can't remember now.

Maybe they spent their advertising budget on ultra realistic in-game boot lace physics?
Surely there should be some promo videos soon...

Surely there’ll be something this week with pre season footy starting and that could still mean a release the week of round 1

I’d still love to see someone from tru blu explain their marketing/promotion strategy, there has to be some kind of reason behind why they do what they do, no one’s that incompetent

For Rugby Challenge 4, they were quiet right up until the start of the Super rugby season a few weeks back. Expect the same to happen here, two days to go!

I'm not entirely sure why people are so impatient for another botched simulation. You'd think people would like there being plenty of development time which could possibly pull off something playable. I'm not holding my breath, the animations and screenshots just showed the same God awful aesthetics.

I messaged them on Facebook three days ago. They haven't even "seen" my response.

Game is delayed, the interview is delayed, the replies are even delayed.

I know they are a small company but the communication with the public has been absolutely atrocious.

This is what does my head in the most. Just as a marketing tool alone it deserves a big budget. Fifa just being a good game converted millions of kids into soccer fans. AFL just look at the revenue generated from sales alone to judge if it's worth it or not and thus, we get a budget that allows for 6 dudes in their garage.

I tried to contact them on FB maybe 4 or 5 months ago when this board was getting restless. For the first time ever I thought I'd try a name drop (as in BigFooty, a footy community reaching out to a footy game) and it never even got seen. I'm not even interested in this game anyway. Oh well, I tried.

Looking more and more likely the game just gets canned. No update at all since November is really poor.

I have a feeling the lack of communication is either tru blu or most likely the AFLs fault (I remember Ross saying something about how strict they were on putting out information back when Big Ant were making Live 1)

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say we’ll see something in the next few days and a release date in the first 5 rounds of the season, feel free to call me an idiot when we get to Monday and still haven’t heard anything 😂

I wonder what work they did on AoE2?

They're probably the ones that introduce the random bugs that weren't there initially, but then crop up out of nowhere, like when it decided to only count trebuchet kills in the kill:death stats for some reason (since fixed). Like, why would you even touch that part of the code when it was working perfectly? Classic Wicked Witch :straining:

Explanation?
Kinda a you had to be there moment. Short version is its a bit of a meme that GTL16 would post his team ranking for the first AFL Evo. Nobody really wanted them and we have no idea what theyre based of.

Honestly would have been happy if they fixed the marking problem, the reset of your player on the ground during stoppages and added new team lists for 2020.

At least I could be playing the game.

Maybe I'm just not very good at it (highly likely) but I think they need to update the controls so that it's easier to cross the play etc.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'd like to see what a complete overhaul would look like where instead of having a kick button, a handball button etc, players you can pass it to have a controller shape/letter above their heads and when you hit that button you'll kick or handball it to them (depending on their distance from you) and accuracy etc depends on the player's skill, the distance, the pressure they're under etc.

Controller buttons (shape, colour etc) are quite distinctive so I think this could result in a much quicker game. Like you might gain possession and see an X button on the edge of the screen, bang, hit that button and your player throws the ball on his boot towards that player. Rather than the current system where you have to find a player to pass it to in the messy mess that is a footy field, face that player, hold the kick button down with the right amount of force … all while hoping to avoid being tackled.

Either that or gain possession, kick long down the line, rinse and repeat.
