Looked on Facebook myself for gameplay footage and there wasn't any, so I'm assuming the source is his own bullshit because there isn't gameplay out yet.
He’s probably talking about the trailer.

I wish there was a gameplay trailer

i never had a issue with the graphics, even the animations.

i just want the actual playing to improve and it simply doesnt really go anywhere in past titles.

'Ill still buy' sums it up for me.

Looks PS2 graphics.

Probably no gameplay changes.

Ridiculous price of $100.

Will be done with it after 3 days.

Will still buy.
This is PS2 graphics.

The "PS2 graphics" insult is overused and very inaccurate. WW games have a lot of things wrong with them but the graphics isn't one of them.
Half the campaigners using that insult were probably 3 years old when the PS2 was being used.

This is the thing though – and I am certainly not a TruBlu sycophant by any means; I was critical of most everything pre-Evo, which wasn't amazing either – but because of the lack of gameplay videos and how close the trailer drops to the actual release date, everyone analyses this 90-second video, frame-by-frame, to the nth degree. It's to everyone's detriment. No one is looking at that stuff while they're actually playing the game.

Btw – Jared Brennan could grip the ball like that ;)
Can’t agree, that’s stuff is definitely noticeable when you watch replays. I remember the ball used to spin the wrong way in the Wii version when you snapped it. Made every snap kick goal replay hard to watch.

WW's attempts at AFL games have thus far been pretty poor, even with lowered expectations. Aussie developers have shown they can make decent games on a budget; WW have not. Most people need to be convinced that WW is capable of producing something playable after they were so crushingly disappointed by what AFL Evo was.

Wicked Witch currently do not get the benefit of the doubt. They've had two goes at an AFL game and come up short each time. AFL Live remains the measuring stick; Evo was not better than it.

But I agree with those arguing that graphics don't matter. The looks of the game are the least of my concerns; in fact, it worries me more when I see the developer putting a significant emphasis on the graphics because it seems like a distraction from the core issue of the gameplay. We need something that feels good to play. Evolution was a complete chore. If the game is fun to play, you'll forget about crap animations or low res textures or whatever. You can brush these off as peripheral concerns.

AFL Live 1 was far from perfect for its time. It was not FIFA and it was not a precisely accurate simulation of the real game. Once you got the hang of it, however, it was fun and felt smooth to play. Evo had heaps of game modes Live 1 did not have, as did Live 2, but they were both painful to play so I didn't bother getting into them, which is why I wish people would not demand super detailed career modes or Be a Pro modes or whatever and that the devs wouldn't waste time on them. They're nice to have, sure, but completely pointless if the core gameplay is shithouse. We know that a heap of people who bought Evo 1 returned it soon after. They got home and the feedback to how it played was resoundingly negative, so the work done on Be a Pro and the career modes and whatever was ultimately lost.

Having played a lot of PES, Live 1 reminds me of that more articulated gameplay than anything Wicked Witch has produced.

Support your local developers!! It's not going to be 2K level, but could be a more than decent game with updates over time. I'm sure it'll have more features than Evolution 1 and that game was actually pretty good! I would have preferred more marking options and a bit smoother gameplay, but it was far and away the most ambitious and well made AFL game to date.

Many people wanted Big Ant to have a go at it, but that didn't happen, and so what other options are there?? At least there is a game! In a market that's not that large. Maybe give it a chance etc...

It's all very well to say BA should do it, and i wanted them to as well, but that all fell through and so at least another studio is doing something here.

The gameplay is most likely going to be inferior to a 9 year old game. So this attitude of, "support the same failing developer and they'll magically make a good football game, one day" I've heard for years isn't working. Here's some answers as to why things aren't working out:

They’ve had three goes not 2 btw

If they are going to insult it like that at least make it somewhat believable.

Having played the console and pc versions of Evolution.... the console versions looked and moved like a 360/ps3 title (still playable and enjoyable but visually not as appealing). The PC version is where the game really shines (maybe not fifa/nba 2k quality but still amazing for a little Aussie game developer).

AFL Live was similar console it was soso.... pc version enhanced it greatly (and that was early 2010s).

Looking forward to Evolution 2. If its just as fun as the previous game I'll probably buy it on the Xbox, Switch (always wanted portable Evolution!) and pc should they release it.

Yeah the graphics have definitely improved since the PS2 era, gameplay however...

Support a series of bad games or else?
I haven't found them to be bad personally* but given the circumstances I am more willing to over look some graphical issues if the game play is fun and function moreso than I am compared to a 2K game. You know?

*Am willing to admit I played AFL Live 1 possibily the most of the 3 that i have had

Just pre-ordered it for delivery from JB Hi Fi, I just see too many positives from their releases and trailer footage not to.

- Graphics have improved a fair bit, it looks a lot better
- It seems that 90% of players have their real faces which is always good to add to the realism.
- Gameplay animations seem to look a lot better and a lot more crisp.
- the pre-game animations added in with better banners (supposedly over 200 banners in the game total confirmed by Twistie) and pre game warm ups and fireworks.
- a more extensive career mode

Seems like it'll be worth the buy

I may be wrong, but I am sure I read somewhere they've scanned every AFL players face for this game.

I think they scan every player but some of those are used as a guide/reference for modelling the players as opposed to actually putting the scan on the player model (if that makes sense)
Although looking at the trailer, I can’t see many players with out a proper face scan

Charlie Cameron looked spot on, and as a Lion's supporter that's the most important thing. I hope he does the motorbike in the game lol.

Couldn't give a stuff about the likeness of the players. All I want is for it to actually feel like you can either play fast or play so, switch the play to overlaps etc. I hate that for instance you would never kick backwards in the game as teams are always standing directly on top of their opponent.
