Big Ant (Ross’ studio) made the 360 and PS3 versions of AFL Live, whilst a Wicked Witch made the Wii version.

Big Ant’s plan revolved around focusing on building core gameplay mechanics, first, without all the extra fluff. I remember talking to the Devs when they had in-store demos, and they were talking about their lack of budget, and ultimately decided on building a foundational game without too much extra fluff getting in the way. Conversely, Wicked Witch pumped out a game with very shoddy mechanics and stapled on state league teams and a “10 year career” mode which doesn’t have enough depth to drown a flea.

Of course, the general public weren’t intelligent or patient enough to see what Big Ant were trying to do, comparing it to the likes of FIFA (which they still do) without acknowledging the year on year improvement that EA have implemented with their sports titles; people want the FIFA-tier product without the necessary growing pains. I’m not sure if Tru Blu listened to these fools, or if Wicked Witch offered a better deal but, Instead of a proper sequel, we got served up hot garbage with AFL Live 2 from Wicked Witch, and Evo was only marginally better.

I’m maintaining optimism for this title, but I have no doubt that, had Big Ant been allowed to continue to develop these games, we’d be waiting for a much better game than what we’ll get.
Big Ant have done a great job convincing people that AFL Live 2011 was good....

Hey guys, trophies and achievements for Evo 2 have been revealed:

"

Come from 52+ points down to win (Senior+ difficulty)"

**** I hate shit like that. You have to go sooo far out of your way to get this type of trophy its ridiculous.

Yep. That gameplay focused game felt as un-footbally as the evolution series (too fast, no mistakes, poor AI, all 1 v 1s). The only real development in the series (IMO) were the sliders in Evo 1. With them, you could kind of get it feeling somethinig similar to football.

There was little difference between Live 2011 and Evo 1 in my opinion. Neither were particularly realistic simulations of AFL.

Groupthink (and good PR from BigAnt) has led a lot of people to assume that the Big Ant version was superior.
One was 6 years earlier 😂
Making a fool of yourself

Half of this forum is about if AFL live 1, just move on from it, we will have a new game that we can get our hands on soon

Agreed. People should've seen the warning signs when Sam Reid was on the cover.

That looks like it might be the only really shitty one that you might have to cheese. The others seem possible just by playing?
There was another that was come from behind at 3 quarter time to win the GF in the hardest mode I think too. Not as bad as the first one I said but still means you have to limit your play for 3 quarters of a match.

Well, achievements confirmed coach mode and pro mode, although that was expected. Also the draft in pro mode (“Top of the Crop” achievement for being #1 pick) and free agency.

Also an achievement about “Earning Your Spot” in pro mode which I assume means that we actually have to start in the 2s/perform in JLT.

Tbh if these are features are all well implemented all I’ll need to enjoy this game is good gameplay.

Neither were realistic depictions of AFL but live ones gameplay was still much smoother.

The same can’t be said about any wicked witch AFL game
I disagree.

Both (Live and Evo) were good foundations to grow off of for different reasons.

Live from 2011 was far more closer to simulating it than Evolution. Evolution is like 10,000 steps backwards, and a bad imitation of Live. The movement in Live is far superior, Evolution is jaw dropping disappointing.
