Um, 2k sports were starting to kick Maddens ass and then EA locked in the NFL to an exclusive license thus ending any competition in NFL gaming. The NBA is better foresight has not gone down the exclusive license path so we get some actual competition. To be honest NBA2K is in need of a decent competitor it's plateau'd for a good few years now, I would like to see a new game engine updated for next gen consoles and PCs but it won't happen unless someone else makes it a priority.

Like alot before me have been saying. The switch version is very playable now. And a lot of fun i must say. All the switch community need is more people to buy the game so our online services are better. Playing agaist someone online lying in bed is a great thrill. Get out and buy this game on switch people.

I thrashed St Kilda by 130 points yesterday morning while I was in bed. I was clunking marks and bagging goals left and right.
That said while I use the Switch undocked most of the time, I don't always play with the joycons attached. I usually have the screen on a surface while I use the pro controller.

Maybe switch the difficulty to veteran haha
I'm actually pretty good at the game, the same as I was with Evolution 1. I also won the premiership as Hawthorn on Legend on the Xbox a few weeks ago
Can someone offer me some advice on rucking in the game. General consensus is I can win the contests fairly often but no idea how to setup the advantage from there. What the strategy to rucking it to your own players to setup the play. Generally if I try to do this either the opposition gets the ball and I tackle them to restart the process or they get a run on me. Or if my player manages to get the ball immediate takedown. My only strategy is to punch it into space and hope someone gets the ball.

If there is I haven't figured it out yet. They set up in the exact same way every time, I usually try and tap it to 10-11 o'clock (if facing right) as that's usually between your two players. It's 50-50 as to whether they actually get it or not though.
for this reason, I prefer to play as a midfielder at every stoppage. 90% of the time, I L1 it and swap to a midfielder.
I then try and get a bit free (usually defensively) and shark the ball.
Doesn’t always work (like real life), but when I do get it, I’m prepared for the opposition players (know where they are in relation to me), and have a short moment to decide what to do with the ball.
Only end up rucking when I’m desperate, like when the ball is last line of defence and I want to big-punch it away diagonally to avoid the dreaded cheap soccer goal (I’d be in full support of a switch to turn off ALL soccering). Also when I see a free mid (maybe 1 in 6 or 7 stoppages) and want to tap to them

I usually aim for my full back who has a fetish for sprinting full pelt towards our forward line but also enjoys detouring into stoppages along the way

Tex and a Carlton bloke chasing down a ball on the flank, old mate from Carlton turns to bump Tex instead of go for the ball which gives Seeeeeed a clear run at it. Picks up and throws the wet ball on the boot from 50, and through it goes. Perfect follow up celebration too of them getting in the face of the bloke who laid the bump.

Just finished my first season of manager mode, enjoyed it! Wanted to wait until the patch/player update.
But I've found my game rather crippled, I've done a fair bit of training and now I can't afford to recontract players. And well over half of my list are out of contract. I'm going to lose a lot of them, and I suppose I can try and re-draft them, if they aren't swooped up immediately. Any advice for how to proceed? I'm thinking of starting a new season and not training players, thus everyone wouldn't be asking for an annual bloody 550.

Yep, this is a new bug. I had it happen also.
anyone else think the ball physics could be a bit better?
for example the ball hardly ever bounces backwards off the ground and when the ball is kicked forwards it just rolls off quickly and keeps going. Other times it's ok. Possibly a hard aspect to get right in AFL games, the random movement aspect of an oval shaped ball. Much easier with a round shaped ball. In Evolution it could be better. But again, i say this in regards AFL Live 1 and the recent Evolution titles, considering this is not 2K making these. These local game studios have done a superb job creating something modern and at a high level. I think if 2K had a go at it, no doubt some aspects would be very clean and well crafted, possibly better animations, but i'm not so sure they'd be that much better at the gameplay physics overall. NBA2K took many iterations of upgrades to get to a very realistic level. I think i'm not the only one that would be curious to see a modern Big Ant version of an AFL game.
