Who cares what the name is? The idea is a good one in terms of growing the game in non-traditional states. Are there any objections besides the name?

Only a few teams playing a half-arsed round.

Some teams having match fitness early in the season, and those teams then getting a bye before its needed.

Just play a full round if games have to be played. If there are commercial advantages to having all four NSW, Qld teams play at home that isn't great but its far less distorting than what we have.

The league can't get (or more accurately, don't bother getting) the mid-season byes right and make sure teams going into, and more importantly coming off, a bye play each other. The extra mess for no reason than RL play a few games overseas is totally unnecessary.

Teams having played 2 games before others have even kicked off potentially is farcical. And totally pointless . Well I guess the AFL will be getting some eyes on it now.

+1 to the consensus of not liking the concept and how it plays out. Whether my team is involved or not, I think the concept of splitting the first week is disruptive and unnecessary, and I actually think it takes away from the hype and excitement rather than adding to it. Would much rather kick off with a full set of 9 games across Thurs - Sunday, and maybe play the final game as a Sunday night fixture on FTA.
