I just think if he has a big second half of the season like we all know he is very capable of he is a good chance at making it.

Those player rankings are terrible.

Maybe, but from what I've seen even when he's has had 35 disposals he is just getting cheap kicks in the back half. Even last night when he was getting smashed by Mitchell he started to take the kick ins get the double stat everytime. Simply not the player he used to be.

One player I think is sneaking up on a forward spot is Gunston. Might not have the stats of a few others but his impact in each game has been important. Carried the Hawks on his back at times.

I wouldn't have Gunston sneaking up on a forward spot. I'd have him well and truly entrenched in the team.

Round 11 vs Melbourne: 15 disposals - 3 marks (1 contested) - 5 tackles - 3 goals - 80% disposal efficiency

In those conditions that is a fair effort. Players were slipping and fumbling all over the place early. Gunston looked like he was playing in the dry still.

Will wait till end of round to post a full team, but I have Gunston pushing Waite out, its going to be difficult to fit all the forwards in especially with the talls.

Think Buddy and Kennedy pick themselves, Lynch deserves reward for his goal kicking in what has been a pretty poor side for much of the year, which means we have 3 talls before even considering Gunston/Waite/etc, then we have Reiwoldt on a wing (but he could also be on the HF line). So realistically of a best 22 we have what could be considered 5 KPF's filling positions in the team, and that's before we even consider whether Tippett is named a a ruck forward given his awesome form.

In the absence of any specialist small fwd or "must have" third KPF, Tippett would now be likely as a FP slot.
No point/need to waste another slot by picking a 2nd specialist ruck...and why bother with a specialist small fwd that might kick 50 when a resting ruck is kicking you almost as many.
Plus you can now guarantee the extra midfield rotation off the bench.
He has the advantage of not just competing with any of Goldstein Natanui and Gawn as a #2 AA ruckman, but he can replace a KPF and/or small fwd for an AA FP slot as resting ruckman and save an entire slot on the paddock.
Don't get this FP dilemma more than about 1 in every 3or4 seasons.
They have named it this way before when the advantage becomes this obvious....and that's how i reckon the selectors would see it at this point in the season.
Betts is a lock but the other FP is conveniently up for grabs anyway, so why wouldn't you take advantage and play the resting ruck as long as he's hitting the scoreboard as well.
Without jamming in mids on flanks that means can comfortably play 9 specialist midfielders.

The most obvious team structure to the selectors right now would likely be this at the moment....

HF: ...?......Franklin......?.....
FF: Betts....Kennedy...Tippett

Foll: TG/NN/MG.......RR......R

Int: Mid, Mid, Mid, Mid

Betts is far from a lock in the AA Breust and Rioli have been every bit as good if not better.

Brown and gold coloured glasses.

Betts is a lock at this stage. 27 goals, 2 more than Breust and 6 more than Rioli, and he is still to play today.

From a North point of view, I think Waite is out now, but Ziebell and Tarrant both probably in.

Goldstein an interesting one - he has had some monster games this year but hasn't been as consistent as 2015, and I expect we'll try to manage his knee throughout the rest of the home and away. I'd almost have Tippett as number one ruck now.

Rioli? He's averaging far less disposals, goals, assists, tackles inside 50 and score involvements than Betts. Breust averages more disposals but that's about it. Neither have been anywhere near as good as Betts
