All Divisions General NFNL Discussion Thread

When the council was going to pay 50:50 now they are paying $0, you think the Ward Councillor would be supportive but actually she is the opposite.
As I mentioned, it's not always about the cash that the school has offered to pay to build the facilities. Usage, lease, council land, etc look to be the things that are holding up the development is my understanding. Not saying that right, just saying that seems to be the issue.

Could you ask the school if they want to redo ours as well when you see them next 😝😝😝

Ours are 30 years overdue.

Ward Councillor goes out of her way to put spanner in the works. She had 2 months to advise us of the citizen concerns, from which they could have been dealt with by the time of the vote.

If I lived in the area I wouldn’t stand against her then there would be some decent action in our area.

It’s the same old “old” complainers who never come anywhere near the ground who object.

EDFL seem to always be a step ahead of the NFNL these days in all aspects

Lucky the NFNL is currently a free for all for Reservoir. In the EDFL they’d be very limited.
Had a discussion with people in the know and salary cap incoming for NFNL women's THIS YEAR I'm told due to AFL Vic request.....

Also changes to fixtures again in women's will be happening I'm told ....we will see.

The Div 2 and Div 3 women's fixtures have been taken off PlayHQ which is least surprising

Wade Derksen picked to play for Carlton tomorrow
Shows what a great pick up for Mont he would have been.

Great to see the Northern Knights running out at Preston City Oval. Looks like my mail was spot on. Fantastic by the council allocating it to an Elite program and NFNL finals.

BF Team, Live show tomorrow night at 7pm. What are the three biggest questions?
Who’s most likely to upset the bergs in a GF?

What the should the setup for finals be with PCO back in play. (Personally think all male divisions should be played there and female finals at a smaller venue) Pending a lighting upgrade could a night final work?

Should the NFNL cap itself at 31 teams or push to expand into a 4 divisions comp?

Should the player points cap be lowered or raised? Do we need adjustment between the divisions etc

Had an interesting chat with some people recently at the home of ideation (SHB over a pint) that suggested that the gap in salary cap between Divisons could inadvertently be making it more difficult for clubs to move up through the grades/hold lists together when demoted. Some examples they gave:

Team in Div 1 on $135k demoted and has to try and hold list together with a $30K reduction in Div2 the next year.

Same with Div 2 demoted club to Div 3 - trying to retain squad with a $25k reduction.

Team in Div 3 trying to recruit players from Div 1 who may be interested to play with mates has a $55k inequity with the Div 1 team (Div 1 $135k : Div 3 $80k)

Whilst I suggested the higher level of comps should have the higher level of salary cap, their point was - should it give such an advantage/disadvantage to clubs in different divisions?

They suggested:

$140k Div 1
$130k Div 2
$120k Div 3

We also discussed the likelihood of clubs staying within that salary cap? The consensus was it would not stop any likely transgression as some clubs will just do it ... but could it support a decrease in some clubs doing it?

Was an interesting discussion and I'm not sure where I sit on it but, would be a progressive move from NFNL (if allowed via AFL Vic) to lead the way.

Thought it worth a conversation with all the gurus on BF.

I don’t agree with that.

IMO
D1 - 200k
D2 - 130k
D3 - 70k

The thought of D1 and D3 clubs paying players who are 200 points worse off 20k less is just stupid.

Would have to respectfully disagree.

Clubs don't have to pay the cap, but those that want to, should they (as a club) be disadvantaged as such?

Say a guy who went to Eltham Collage but is playing for Panther is thinking of coming back to play with mates. He would be a 'top 5' for the Turtles so they may offer $350. But Panther could offer $650. That's a big difference that makes it harder for the Turtles to jump up the grades/be more competitive. So does the cap differential inadvertently serve some clubs over others?

Again, not saying I 💯 agree with the concept they suggested, but how would Div 3 clubs improve enough with a $130k differential to Div 1?
