You obviously don't watch much live sport if you think that a white and royal blue jumper doesn't present a clash with a white and navy-blue jumper.

North Melbourne and Collingwood playing each other in the same competition since 1925 wasn't an issue (in black and white or colour TV, even on mud covered grounds) until the AFL realised in the 1990s that there could be money in selling clash guernseys.

It’s not a clash hence why they wear regular jumpers against each other.

Every local should have a clash jumper and any remote clash should mean a switch. The game is far more visually attractive especially at a distance when you can clearly define the 2 sides.

Whittlesea have reversible jumpers white and blue. Quite easy.

How many clubs are still putting some old codger or young kid on a gate trying to sting money for entry? Surely those that are still persisting, should give it up. Does anyone get that much out if it to make it worthwhile?

I think Eltham use the lads at the Mens Shed and split the money with them somehow, good for those blokes to help them and as someone else said, every cent helps a Club so if it's still financially viable why not. 'Sting' money is a little naive to think Clubs don't need money, maybe yours is fine but if you get say 50 people pay $7 that to me is better in a Clubs bank than not and most logical people who attend know putting on a game to watch is not free so every cent counts.

However, I have never understood why people don't buy season memberships, always cheaper and just makes sense. Maybe there is the odd person who only attends 1 or 2 games a year, but I would have thought most people that go to local footy attend more often.

I think most people are more than happy to pay for a club membership, or pay on the gate - I though most clubs still had someone collecting entry fee?

I’ve been accused of trolling about this.
Watch this space …..
just had a look at some rep results NFNL Member seems the edfl won both 14 and 15 boys games easy and both the grils too. was it predicted due to talent available or were squads not selected appropriately around your previous mentiond concerns

Well I would suggest both

doesnt happen around the edfl but not all ovals have fencelines i thought it was more a country footy small town thing
I’d say the fence lines are the reason why these clubs charge, and you’d be hard pressed to find a club that would have a ground where they could charge for entry that’s simply choosing to give up that money.

Buy a membership or cough up $7 would be my advice. These clubs spend a huge amount putting on the show, it’s the absolute least punters can do.

Oh I’m 100% in agreement there, no shame on any club that collects the money, gotta keep these clubs afloat and able to operate. My point was more that every club would do it if they could. I’d say the clubs who don’t have fences are a bit unlucky and at a little bit of a disadvantage there (depending on which club of course). I wonder if temporary fencing could be worth putting up on game day or something. A lot of people would be initially opposed but as we know, clubs have to make the money to survive.

Lalor is fenced and they haven’t charged anyone entry for years.
