The Bullants' dire financial position is common knowledge so Stillman had all the negotiating power and now the Bullants will get no revenue at all.
He (and the NFNL) come across as arrogant and greedy if this was how the negotiations panned out.

Wow. Sounds like Stillmans ego took over.

What a pathetic negotiation.

Preston asked for 15% of the bar, but would have settled for 2 or 3

A realistic starting point from Preston might have helped!

I suppose being financially unstable as they are made them think as big as possible to try and help secure their clubs future.
I understand that stance even if it was a little unrealistic

is 15% that unrealistic?

I asked AI what it thinks....

For a hosted sports venue, the percentage of bar takings allocated to the host (venue) is typically between 10% and 20%. This percentage can vary based on factors like the bar's profitability, the venue's location, and the specific arrangement between the host and the bar.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Profit Margins:
Bars generally aim for a profit margin of 10-15%, but this can fluctuate. Some bars might achieve higher margins (18-20%), while others might be lower, especially if they also have a kitchen.

  • Variable Costs:
A significant portion of bar expenses are variable, including the cost of goods sold (COGS) like liquor and food, as well as labor and marketing costs.

  • Fixed Costs:
Fixed costs, such as rent, utilities, insurance, and licenses, also need to be factored into the overall profitability.

  • Sports Venue Specifics:
In a hosted sports venue, the percentage allocated to the host is a negotiated agreement, often between 10-20% of bar takings. The exact percentage can depend on the specific agreement between the venue owner and the bar operator.

Shows poor negotiation from the NFNL if anything.

Nothing wrong with Preston testing the waters. After 20 years you’d think something could have been worked out

It's all hearsay though, no one knows what actually happened in the negotiation

I wonder what the % was last year?

Parking officers will have a field day as no cars allowed in ground
What shelter is at Eltham if it's a wet day?

Negative post without thought; parking officers at PCO actually did have a field day.

How much undercover is at Lalor or Whittlesea? Grounds that have had finals.

So much parking at Youth Rd and the train station that side near tennis courts it's near impossible not to get a park. Can assure you a lot more free parking that PCO.

I am not saying Eltham is perfect and don't really care where it's played, but it seems everyone has a negative about every ground. Cannot be at Diamo or Whitt as they are clearly finals contenders.

Then again, complaining about decisions is BigFooty.

Denny Crane not negative, just asking a question?
Never had am issue at PCO with parking, not sure Eltham.will have same convenience
It will also be interesting to see how the league attempts to block off the bike track that runs along Eltham oval, can't see how they can.
Guess time will tell

Have you ever been to eltham? You can literally park so many places.

What parking restrictions do they have in the area on Saturday?

Not to mention if Diamond Creek make it their supporters could park at their ground and catch the train 1 stop to Eltham and then back. Couldn’t be easier.

10571z plenty of times and I don't see the appeal to be honest.
And there are 2 and 4 hour parking restrictions in Eltham on Saturdays so guess be careful where people park

If you have never had an issue at PCO with parking you are in the minority.

I have no idea how they can block off the trail but as the NFNL will be dealing directly with council it will be up to them to figure out I suppose.

I am not saying Eltham is the answer at all by the way, but say for Div 2, finals cannot be at Whit or Diamo, St Marys or Macleod as the four likely to play most finals. With Epping now Div 1 ground. Where do you want them to go? What is the alternative?

They can't block it off as it's public access land, not sure they can put up the black canvas like they do at PCO
Has Reservoir ever been used, good surface, only one entry, easy to put fencing along the club rooms end yes parking again is an issue but Lalor was ok last year for Div 3 finals

Reservoir? You have to be kidding.

Close to the worst surface in the league. Like a BMX track where the drains have been put in.. Not to mention a turf wicket.

Council can do as they please and have done it previously. Whilst it was many years ago they have restricted access to the path due to festivals and even football. They do have that right.

Again, I am not advocating its the best location at all but your arguments are very flimsy.

NFNL has sorted a deal with Latrobe to host the womens finals. Tough ground for Women as its massive but lets hope it goes well. Eltham locked in for the GF which is fantastic to see.

I agree big grounds not the best for the women, would have thought Hursty would be mint for more scoring etc. Even Diamo womens ground in Plenty would be more suitable than bigger grounds.
