If you could choose anyone to have instead of Judd, who would it be?

for me it would be Luke Hodge. I think this guy is tough as anyone, can play anywhere, smashes games apart as well. love the guy almost as much as i love Murph.

i think that goodes is overrated. dont get me wrong he is a good player but deffinately not dual brownlow good (even if one was a three way tie). compare him to harvey, williams and judd (he will get another on for us :p) and i would pick either of them before goodes.

anyhow, i would pick jono brown. kills it when he plays forward and can push up into the middle and still dominate.

Buddy is overrated (genuine star, but gets 2-3 'cheapies' a week which inflate his numbers).

Gazza Ablett or a permanently fit Jonathan Brown.
That's a bit of a silly comment really.

I'd hazard a guess that about 30% of everyones goals in the AFL are 'cheapies'.

The guy is an absolute superstar.

Will stick with Number 5 thanks.

He is yards better than others,
you're are kidding yourself if you sell him short.

The best player in the competition is currently dragging the worst side updward,
on one leg.

My point........this bloke is the best.

Oh yeah, when star fiuck of the month occurs,
and Franklin does a hammy,
this bloke is always here.

If I had a choice out of Judd or Ablett I would definatly choose Judd. My reason? Because Judd can go in and get the ball out, so you could say he is an extractor, Ablett on the other hand is a reciever, one of the best in the game no doubt but because Geelongs midfield is so good it compliments his playing style. I'd take Judd any day and I am certainly happy we have him.

He's an absolute superstar - don't get me wrong (rate him second best forward behind a fully fit Jonathan Brown), but he does get more cheapies than your average gun forward. Gets gifted a few through handballs in the forward line when the handballer is an a position to kick the goal.

I did indeed watch the game on Friday night. But I have my own opinion of Ablett, I do think he is a good player but he is a protected species and doesn't get the hard balls like Judd. Judd for me
Ablett gets 10 hard ball gets a game. Thats just over 1/3 of his average possesions per week.

I won't buy into this argument because Judd is obviusly a great player and an excellent addition to your inexperienced list. However, if you think that Ablett is a receiver you need to watch a little closer next time you see him play. Sure, his teammates give it to him whenever possible as he is so elusive and such a fantastic user of the ball, but he has actually won almost as much contested possesion a game as Judd this year from 1 less game.

Judd's greatest weapon is his explosive pace, Ablett is almost imposible to catch because he is so nimble in traffic and strong in the tackle. Each plays a similarly pivotal role in their team's midfield, but both are great in very different ways.

Judd is playing well right now, but hopefully he can return to his best by the time your youngsters are really hitting their straps in a year or two!

Watch a replay of cats v swans about 6 weeks back. Didn't matter if he was opposed to 2, 3 or 4 swans Ablett won every ball (on the ground or in the air) he went near in the second half. Phenomenal. Is currently in the best patch of form that any player has had in recent years (including first 9 or 10 games last year by Judd - which were pretty bloody spectacular).

Ablett has me in awe almost every time he touches the ball. He makes the opposition players look like witches hats on a regular basis. His core strength makes him almost impossible to tackle. Phenomenal fitness and makes the game's best taggers look second rate. Not to mention he's deadly around goals and is brilliantly skilled.

I'd have no reservation in saying that I'd choose Ablett before any player in the AFL, period.
