Are we about to witness a 200 point margin for the first time in VFL/AFL history?

With how bad West Coast have been, could this season be the season that we see a 200 point loss for the first time ever?

The Eagles have already featured in the top four of biggest losses ever this year, and the first to feature in the top 10 in 12 years. The pattern seems to indicate a yes.

Brisbane at the Gabba next week may prove to be the most likely scenario for it.

In another time we'd have 10 men in defence at every restart.

Instead we'll just hope Brisbane can't kick straight and end up with 15.35 from their shots on goal.

Brisbane have a lower percentage than both Melbourne and Collingwood.

They need more to keep the wolves from the door and more just in case Collingwood and Port drop games.

Do Freo have the team to do it in round 23? I guess it will depend on them still being in finals contention or not and needing percentage.

Historically we don't get up for these type of percentage boosters.

There are few games like Carlton, Dogs at Marvel or the last round vs Adelaide at Optus. Adelaide usually do a decent job on percentage boosters, they've killed us back in 2014 to 16 with Betts n co.

Rekon Brisbane will go the other way.

All rested.

Win by 40-60 points and then gear up for the final month.
We won't rest players. Maybe Dunks if his cork isn't good. Maybe Payne if his ankle is still troubling. But apart from that we will be full strength and get zorks back.

Edit. Also don't think we belt them either. As another poster said we never really put teams away when it's like this. Maybe some kind of mental lapse.

Joey is going for the Coleman Medal with the blessings of zackah so I doubt the Lions will rest him

I don’t think so. Swans at SCG is a bit like the Cats at the Cattery for us, always felt more prone, and in play they made it look so easy and us so second-rate. Maybe the Lions are a more formidable side right now with more forward weaponry, but it is the more mid-to-lower table sides that really have a taste to put us to the sword. The Fagan Lions aren’t necessarily a mercilessly dour side either, so we’ll likely get our 8-ish goals which puts 200+ out of reach. B2b opponent scores of 200+ would also be untenable, so Simps will inevitably coach to mitigate that.

I posted this on our board last week >

Eagles losing margins - 5, 41, 63, 47, 40, 108, 46, 70, 116, 50, 63, 122, 171.

Their losses against the better sides are the highlighted, in order > Demons, Cats, Port, Magpies.

Their 4 100+ point losses were against lesser sides ie. Blues, Hawks, Crows and Swans.

If our players go in expecting a 150 point win it wont happen, IMO we are more likely to get a margin in the 50-70 point range.

Not gonna happen. Don't forget the Eagles were coming off a bye, so were even worse than their usually s**t selves. They won't lose by 100+ to the Saints and they might lose by 100+ to Brissy but it won't be 200, no way.

Nope despite Freo have some promising kids, we ain't gonna put up a 200 point win vs west coast.

A better chance to see Freo lose by 200 points when the dockers become really bad again.

Even then, I hope we at least kick 3-5 goals

West Coast Reserves just lost to East Fremantle by 184

33.17.215
4.7.31
Good grief, how bad does your recruiting have to be for both the seniors and reserves to get murdered by such a high margin? And we're not even talking about a poor or historically unsuccessful club here. The Eagles had better start throwing their huge pile of money at fixing this issue, or they'll lose the support of the next generation of kids to Freo.

Must be some serious issues behind the scenes IMO

Our recruiting might have caused our poor availability, but I think we only had one player from our list play wafl. A first year category B rookie. The rest of the team are amateurs other than one previously listed AFL player, Jackson Nelson.
