Switch Aussie Rules Evolution 2 - Released July 10th

So, this is a very interesting development. Tru Blu have decided to return with an unlicensed version of seemingly AFL Evolution 2. It releases for the Switch 1 on July 18th. There's some interesting titbits in the description of the game, I hope that means the gameplay from Evo 2 has been upgraded.


The yellow bits I outlined reads like my rants on AFL 23/26, have Tru Blu been lurking these forums, lol? Maybe I'm reading into it too much but the tight controls bit feels like a response to how broken the controls were in AFL 23.


From some digging, "Glinda Games" I believe are developing this, which is run by the founder of Wicked Witch. Apparently they did an unlicensed rerelease of Rugby Challenge 4 earlier this year, too, and they're taking suggestions from fans to improve its gameplay and patching it. So, I'm hoping they'll do the same with Aussie Rules Evolution 2.

Zero expectations and will only have a look if it's released on platforms that aren't the Switch, and even then only if there's a big enough community so I can download their hard work in terms of proper teams and players and stats, but if anything will drag old mate Ross outta self imposed exile to go full raging crazy man again, this'll do it

If it's just a re-release I'm not interested. Still have Evo 2. But we do need competition in AFL games, whether it's a re-release like this or indie titles doing their thing and putting their own twist on things (arcade NBA Jam style, retro 16-bit style, coaching focus, romance graphic novel style )

Yeah, Tru Blu even said it's not for those who already have Evo 2, it's basically a rerelease. I was just hoping they improved the gameplay to it like they apparently did with their Rugby Challenge 4 rerelease.

I won't lie I'm kind of tempted.

The commentary can't be much worse than the usual ones, I usually create my own team anyway and tend to go so deep into career mode most of the players are replaced with the computer generated ones.

And an actually accessible fanhub might make things more interesting. I dunno, I may add it to my Switch lineup.

Okay don't love the toothpaste crowd xD I know its a compromise for the Switch hardware, I suppose, but man.

Funnily enough I don't mind the commentary. Kind of reminds me of how it sounds watching a VFL stream and I don't think it sounds really any worse than the disjointed official commentary other than the voices not being as recognizable.

I think it's only a Switch 2 graphical glitch with it being a Switch 1 game. $70 though for that is ridiculous, should be like $10, it's a $2 copy and paste job of a 5 year old game shortcutting with AI to develop it.
