Am I reading the appeal process incorrectly, or did SAf delay the appeal until it would be too late to be completed before the next test starts?

Rather than accept that Rabada needs serious discipline, they are playing the game in making excuses for him.
Not ideal but lets be honest, we'd do the same if we could.

As they played England last year, India last month and us now, the next series they play is not going to be as important. So if there is a loophole that allows them to stay the suspension and cop it in a later, less important series, then any team should be exploiting that situation.

The problem in this instance is not with making excuses for him, but with the slow way in which the ICC deals with that. Can't be that hard to have a committee ready to go, particularly as there has been some huge test series in the last 9 months and the ICC Champions Trophy.

Any nation would do it - and let’s not kid ourselves, if he wasn’t such a good player, any country would also probably not bother.

But I’d be disappointed if he played simply because the process got held up. Hold the hearing, make a decision, and get it done

It does make the sport look positively amateurish.

I’m happy they found a loophole for Rabada to play, this series is looking like a classic and having the two best bowling attacks in the world going toe to toe is a part of that.

Rabada is an idiot for continually getting Demerits and the cotton wool that the SA administration keep wrapping him means he’s got a stack more coming because he won’t learn anything from this, the best thing for SA long term would have been to leave it, but cricket is the winner now that they’re not.

Bring on Newlands, it’s time to bounce back.

Free Rabada. You can abuse someone with the most vile crap (both sides) yet a shoulder touch results in the best player missing???

Give it a spell.

They all need to shut up and play.

The Australian problems are down to Smith. He insisted on the same side/squad. So they are essentially locked into the same side with Bancroft and Handscomb (as reserve) where there are better options available.

Think there’s a bit more to it than that. Renshaw aside - and he’s not yet proven against bowlers as good as South Africa’s - who is going to miraculously change the result from the last test? Bearing in mind that the player he’d have most likely replaced, actually did quite a decent job.

He wasn't suspended for a shoulder touch he was suspended for demerit points.
If a driver loses all their demerit points should they be allowed to keep their license because they were only 10kms over in the most recent incident?

Classic tactic from Vern, just say you were hacked :tearsofjoy:

Right. Instead of Marsh, arguably australia’s Best player in the series so far.
Ok.

No instead of Handscomb as the reserve bat Was earlier talking about not the result but the fact that Australia have basically locked themselves into playing the same 11 as they took an out of form opener and reserve who was dropped for technical issues team balance but has played once since.

Such a cop out.

Normally people who go the 'I was hacked' route mean they left their browser open while some mates were around who proceeded to stitch him up. Don't reckon he can even claim that in this case, his mates would have posted a dick pic.

So, according to RSA, their belief Smith that could have avoided contact with Rabada will be used as part of their argument that Rabada should have his charge downgraded or dropped. Good luck with that. These quotes from Dali Mpofu, their lawyer, featured in Ben Horne's piece stink IMO: “I do believe this is an important case for all South Africans and has implications for our shared project of nation-building. We should all wish Kagiso luck for Monday.”

******* joke from the Saffers. Anyone who has unexpextedly brushed past someone has rolled their shoulder forward the way smith did.

Lossing a lot of credibility this series and i actually really like the proteas in general.

Post g.smith, an extremely successful era, there seems to have been a bit of an ugly decline...very similar to the aussies post warne/mcgrath.
