Marvin, you are a Bay 13 act a long way from home. Not sure if you are one of ours or pretending to be, but let's not force me to decide. Gather up the troupe of cabaret monkeys, pack the caravan and take the show back out on the road. All the best.

You mean I shouldn't post on the carlton thread?

Chill...

What do you mean Judd is sick of it and Murphy is sick of it

Just watch the expression on Murphy's face in Q3 and after the game - walks past a few team players and doesn't even look at them. Juddy was monstered all day by his tag at every bounce - no support..

The very start of the game set the scene - Henderson was punched and pushed to the ground before the bounce and the other Carlton players just stood there..

Pathetic - just pathetic.

I mean you can take the overt homosexual overtones that are in most of your posts and keep them on the Bay where you started out. You are clearly having a laugh by creating this persona and we are not interested.

Cheers

Pathetic I agree. Actually felt a lot of gas sucked out of the team and crowd when Laids went down one minute in.

It would've been the first thing the essendon coaching said at 1/4 time,

It would have been the message all week. You boys put some physicality on them and they will fold. Like Matthews saying if it bleeds we can kill it. When you are the massive underdog its the one message that works. I wasnt surprised by their attack, I was surprised that we meekly surrendered. If we dont correct that with a physical showing, it wont go un noticed by the rest of the comp. Its a massive insult to be called soft. We wear that tag now until we erase that impression.

One of those typical Ess v Carl games where the opposite of what should happen, actually happens. The intensity advantage of the underdog is always a factor, not something that is rational for pro athletes but it happens all the time.

Hopefully we are still a factor when we match up again later in the year and get back to those MCG sell outs.

We don't keep losing to Hawthorn for nothing. They're hard as nails against us and we always fold against them.

Agree. :thumbsu:

Hocking yeah? was at him at every stoppage and you could just see the frustration and anger in Judd.
Wheres Robbo or our other so called harder types? are they helping? flying the flag? NO
what about when carrots was driven into the dirt by that dirty dog act by lonergon? no support again.......its piss poor, Geelong and Hawthorn wouldn't put up with one pf their players copping that shit, so why do we.

Get some rugby blokes down at training this week and teach em to hit harder and bash and crash for ya mates.

No I'm not having a laugh. I love the footy and I love men. I don't understand the footy as much as some on here, but I understand men. Carlton is my team.

For anyone who watched the Eagles Hawks tonight - if anyone had any thoughts of us as flag contenders, I did, then wipe that from your mind right now.

Having just watch that game, and ours, if we are truly what we saw tonight - then our opportunity for a flag just went down with Carrazzo - Im not joking.

No other way to put it - we were so soft, not one man amongst them - while every single Hawk and Eagle are looking seriously tough - massive players all running into each other full tilt, highly athletic etc - there is absolutely no way.

Unless we have five or six real champs who are going to come in and make a massive impact over the next 3 years, and not simply break into the team, then we wont be seeing a flag with Judd.

Just sat there with my mouth on the floor - relative to our performance we would have been belted by 100 points be either of these teams.

What worries me the most about our new status as the Pop Rock Boy Band is every other team knows it - bring your tough game and Blues will fold - not one coach can have missed this and we are going to cop it every week.

May toughen us in the longer term - but this year we are going to squib.

Boyz to Men......

We're one of the hunted teams now, inevitably these challanges arrive. Dons are pretty good at it too, beat WCE & geelong last year.
They slowed us down & forced us wide after our forwards have been thriving on quick ball movement, plus the boys were a bit soft.
Best time to learn lessons is early in the season, would've been better if it wasn't against bloody essendon though

Murphy on the game tomorrow - seriously, pretty clear we need to get the hell out of the media - and here he is.

Well Essendon showed the rest of the teams what to do against Carlton.

lets see if we have any come back - one thing is for sure - we will need quite a few changes.

Suck it up.

Misery loves company.

Our "Richmond" supporters are here.

Not yet willing to concede that we cant toughen up. Its mental not physical. And last week we had it in spades. We need to re-aasert our physicality with a tough performance next week on the road.

Losing Carrots for half the season is going to hurt because he was a critical part of our midfield but if we truly have depth we can cover for him in the run with roles with Joseph or Armfield. And the 30 possie games can come from Murph, Simmo and Judd.

Some of the lads need a lesson in G&D no doubt about that.

You know what, I'm more disgusted by the lack of any response to the Carrazzo incident than the result itself. One of our best clubmen and a player who gives his heart and soul gets snipered and not one of our players does a thing. Absolutely weak.

Also since when do our rucks get smashed. At worst they usually negate or break even, never smashed... and Tom Bellchambers of all people even had a decent day out..lol.

Quite clearly just wasnt our day.

It was quite obvious very early on that we were flat (that's not an excuse, just the reality). I said this to my wife during the first quarter. I was hoping we would turn it around at some stage during the game, but except for a short period in the 3rd quarter, the lethargy continued for the rest of the game.

Hopefully Ratts can get the boys back up this week & we can come out & give Freo a touch up.

Tough comes in different flavours...

1. To keep returning after multiple major ops, to gut-run.

2. Please... perhaps to continue on in the face of endless derision.

3. More strong than tough.

4. Is coolness under pressure tough? It's all I have for him.

5. To drag 3 and 4 opposition players around all day along with the hopes of 50,000 supporters. Tough in too many ways.

6. Gut-running, longevity, never say die attitude.

8. Never gives in, second and third efforts, courage, stamina.

9. No.

12. Genuine toughness marred by stupidity and limited ball-skills.

13. No.

14. Stamina, achieves supreme fitness in attempt to offset lack of pace.

15. Ability to play through pain. Brave.

18. No, perhaps has audaciousness.

19. Continually out-sized - that's it.

22. No, perhaps to persist when his mind might be telling him it's all too hard.

23. No. Maybe acceptance to be reinvented.

27. Endurance and courage, plays through pain.

29. Supreme fitness, courage to get the best out of himself.

30. No. Stupid, undisciplined and mentally weak with it.

34. See 15.

35. Brave, one dimensional however.

40. Strong.

42. Genuine toughness, overcomes adversity, brave and skilled with it.

44. Courage to get the best from his limited kit-bag. Reinvention is risky and requires mental toughness.

45. Genuine toughness. Fights above his weight most games.

I think we are looking into this match to much.. yeah sure we should have won but anything happens in this big games..

Essendon always take a few scalps every year.. They even knocked off the Cats! Eagles as well i think could be wrong.

But honestly we have to give them a chance to respond.

I think you are still a top 4 side.. but there was no way you should have been 1.10 vs $7 today and it looked like some of your players bought into the media hype.

Just wanted to post that I agree with previous posters about not flying the flag. I'm not suggesting do stupid things and get rubbed out or give away goals.. but I think you still have to show some spirit.. It seems you blokes have made a big deal about 'being tougher' and losing the 'soft' tag that has haunted you for years (imho) but today you didn't look interested in getting dirty.

Hocking was allowed to maul Judd all game and I only saw two instances of organised blocks at stoppages, that isn't good enough especially when you rely on Judd and Murphy to dominate the clearances to give good delivery into your Forward 50.

Anyway wasn't meaning to troll.. but you would hope that next time one of your prime players is driven into the turf and left busted up.. someone would at least say Hello to the bloke who did it!!

See you later in the year and then hopefully in the Prelim when we can smash you all over again!
