I think Geelong will win its next 8 or so Vic games. Dome, G or KP it will not matter. I know I am going to get a lot of

"Getting carried away off one win..."

But it isnt really that. Last week I said we would put away the eagles comfortably. There was NO doubt in my mind the entire week. I think I actually do believe the boys are ready to play, from all appearances the new assistants and Balmey are doing the right job and the right decisions are being made. The boys look very focused and I dont think they are going to need the blowtorch applied for them to fire up, it has finally clicked, we CAN do this and I think we will.

Nuff said...watch it happen! (or fall apart today)

I just think we are going to go top four and win quiet a few games along the way.

I hope you're right mate. If Geelong come out today and pound Freo into the turf from the start and record a big win, they'll make a believer out of me. I just hope we don't get ahead of ourselves like so many times before after a big win and produce a crap effort and get rolled in a game we should win, and win well.

just hope we don't get ahead of ourselves
I understand that I am doing this but I am very confident that we will go top 4 this year and do it easily. I just honestly believe we are in the top 4 teams in the league.

That's exactly my take on it too. I have a feeling they may have turned a corner but let's see...

I'm going over to Adelaide for the Port match, would love to see them win over there.

I'm going down for it too, and the Crows match. Better have a win or two. Don't want to sit through another 15 goal drubbing like last year!

We're too inconsistant and will lose to some crap team like the Kangaroos or Essendon.

Its all about the games against Port and Adelaide in Adelaide. We must win one or both. We have the players, the depth and (it seems) the self-belief. Should we do well today we will into the stretch of the season in which statements need to be made, toughness, replaced by hardness and challenges relished for their ability remake statements.

Two statements- we need to win in Adelaide and Perth and relish playing there and we need to win a couple of close, tough games.

I've been following Geelong for long enough that I don't care whether we come top eight or top four. A GF is a good season the rest is a waste of time. We are not building or rebuilding or forming, we are built so send in the cyclone and see if we stand up.

Our next 3 games are Port, St.Kilda and Adelaide. Very hard teams to play especially with both Port and St.Kilda away. To tell the truth, I'll be happy if we win at least one of those games and I'll be over the moon if we win 2 out of 3. I'll prolly be run over by the Geelong bandwagon if we miraclously win all 3.

I think we're in a good positison to challenge Port. Geelong seem to play better when we're up against it, it seems to inspire them. Its the matches against lesser teams like Kangaroos or Hawks where we are expected to win that we play poorly. I expect us to come close to winning at least one of those interstate games with the way the side is going atm.

One thing that worries me at the moment is that we tend to have really flat spots in games. Had it again today in the last quarter, as we did in the last quarter last week, 2nd quarter against the Roos, just before half time against Carlton, last quarter against Melbourne, etc, etc. So far, apart from the 2nd quarter against the Roos, it has not really hurt us too much, but I have a feeling that one day it will. If we have a similar lead at 3/4 time next week and Port Adelaide kick the first three goals of the last term, the crowd might just come alive and carry them over the line. Hopefully it won't happen though.

That's what happens in footy. You can't expect teams to dominate a whole game. When you play good sides, they come back at you. As the Eagles did last week and Freo did today... What's important is learning how to withstand that pressure and play through it...

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Most games wont be one-way traffic like it was against Richmond. Teams will surge and lift at different parts of the game, we just have to find ways to shift the momentum when that occurs.

Or we can pay off the umps (as I am sure Freo fans think we did) ;)

I think we'll win two of the next three, at least, if we keep putting in the hard yards. A little work on our polish would be nice, from the sounds of the game thread, but I think the players have gotten the message. Now they just have to keep at it game after game.

St Kilda are really suffering at the moment.

That is some critical talent missing from the team.

They've had a shocking run with injuries the last few years...

Supreme optimist board.

One down 7 to go!

I agree whole heartedly with the statements by some that we cannot hope to dominate an entire game. That was what made Sydney so good, when the other team was having their run they closed down the game so they couldnt score. We dont have to play like Sydney but they key when another team becomes dominant is not to let them hurt us on the scoreboard and then as soon as we have dominance back in general play to pile on some quick goals

We would have been in the position to win 4-5 more games last season if we had of scored when we had control of the game. I watched a few games where a team would kick 3 goals, we would then have dominance and kick 2 points and they would resume and kick another 3 goals. Suddenly we are down by 6 goals and pushing shit up hill.
