Hi guys, I'm doing another midfield comparison and I'm trying to select the top 5 midfielders from each team, but for some of the clubs I'm a little unsure.
For Essendon my top 3 midfielders are Stanton, Watson and J.Johnson but I'm not sure about the last two spots.
Can you guys help please?

Myself I would have Monfries there and the last spot is between Camporeale, Hird, MJ, Jetta, Houli, Lovett and Davey. Most sides would have 6-8 that would rotate through the midfield

If Winderlich is our 5th best midfielder at the moment then sign us up for bottom 4. If he is a regular starter by seasons end that will be a good return for him.

Far out - he has done zip - played a few praccy games and now he is our 5th best.

Same goes for Jetta.

I expect by seasons end that may have changed with Gus getting into the top 5 and depending on McVeighs role.

You can't go on talking about form in the practice games and then go putting lovett in the top 5. He hasn't really played much in the midfield in regular season games. I reckon McVeigh should get the nod if you talk about "real" match form.

I think he did play in the midfield - or in the wing quite a bit last year - his best games were played there. That is what I am going on.

As I said - McVeigh should be there - but Sheedy won't play him there so he doesn't count.

I personally think we need more grunt in the middle and McVeigh would provide that. But thats just me.

We actually need 3 McViegh's
1 Stopping Backman
1 Tagging Midfielder
1 Attacking Midfielder

1 Stopping Backman - Slattery/Welsh/Cole
1 Tagging Midfielder - Pev/Heff
1 Attacking Midfielder - McVeigh

Slattery-Not proven yet-looks around in fear for mrs topdon
Welsh- Poor Footballer
Cole- Not proven
Pev-Good tagger but slow and average disposal
Heff- not bad but no McVeigh

McVeigh would definately be in our top five midfielders he is very versatile as mentioned. I remember last year he shut down Judd and Brad Johnson.

What do you guys think of N L-M as a parttime midfielder?

nathan lovett-murray might play a little in the midfield, or mcveigh, but i think that the last 2 spots go 2 angus monfries and mark johnson. angus monfries will also play in the forward line.
