I stated elsewhere that the AFL could be killing the Lions again in order to move them to Tassie - and was laughed off as a crazy....then I read this:

I can't be any clearer. I've said repeatedly that picks shouldn't be ruled out for the Lions. But those saying they've helped us are wrong. They haven't helped us.

I fail to see why they should bail the club out if they make their own mistakes?

We don't all have the backing of the Costa brothers enabling us to invest said dollars in gyms and facilities.

Do you also fail to see why it was the AFL's responsibility to give Melbourne a 2.7 million dollar bailout package so that they could pay Paul Roos 1.5 mil a year?

Anyone scoffing at the suggestion that Brisbane need assistance better hope that it's there for their own club if and when the time comes.

When people say Melbourne have been assisted by concession picks and financial assistance, only the latter is true in reality. The two picks we were granted did not assist in getting us to this point. Sure, they may have. I'm not arguing against them in theory or Brisbane getting them. Of course high picks could help. But if we are to be the case study that so many throw into the picture, PPs didn't contribute. What did contribute was a CEO who knew his arse from his elbow, a new coaching department and recruiting staff, and some prudent trading to obtain high draft picks and wise selections later in the draft. Not priority picks. Comprende?

Leppitsch also criticised the AFL for playing a role in the club's predicament, saying the League had favoured the expansion clubs ahead of the Lions.

Again the argument isn't whether the assistance worked or not. The facts is you DID receive assistance from the AFL. It's your fault that you stuffed it up. But it doesn't change the fact that it happen. Stay on topic

I know, it is obvious and you didn't get it. That's what this whole convo is about, the fact that Brisbane deserve more help from the AFL. And your club was used as an example of a team that received help. No one needed to hear your rant about how it didn't count because you stuffed up the help that the afl gave you, because it's irrelevant to the conversation. Again stay on topic
