Peaked way too early, they showed they're fragile under pressur even against weak opposition, they'll be out in straight sets in come finals time.

Luckily for us, every side in the league has shown they're even more fragile.

I'll give them a Mulligan, surely that's a one off. Their biggest loss this year was 20, that's a sign of a disciplined side that puts in effort. We played out of their skin and they were jumped.

Still the favourite, but if they lose to the Pies next week there will be some questions.

Or maybe the gap between first and last isn't that big, and on their day almost any team can win. Every other contender has also faltered, it's like who can hold their nerve. More and more its about whether you turn up on the day than formlines etc.

5-10 years ago I would never have believed I'm going to say this.

Yes they can, I hope they do, and I'd be over the moon for Tex. They're a good team, great to watch, and I've developed a lot of respect for Tex.

There, I said it.
It seems if a side is contending after a long drought and are an interstate side or a smaller Vic side, they become the popular choice for most neutrals. I've always liked the Crows so I hope they do.

I agree to some extent, but it's the long drought in isolation. They're just entertaining to watch and there's something about a veteran getting a fairytale swansong that gets you invested. Like we all wanted for Bob Murphy.

Yes for sure. I was living in Footscray at the time and knew a few Doggies supporters, and the buzz before the 2016 gf was electric. Like you were appreciating that history could be made, and what it meant to supporters who mostly hadnt seen a flag, or were in the 60s, 70s, 80s and older. Indeed in 1954 television had not yet arrived on our shores so there was no tv coverage. After the win they painted many things around Footscray red, white and blue, a lot of street art murals etc.. many of which remain today. In Melbourne no club is still so tied to it's area as the Doggies.

May as well reminisce here.

I was at the 2017 flag. No flags during my own life until then. I was very glad my dad got to see another one (3 actually, and we attended 17 + 19).

Being in Richmond afterwards was surreal.

Had my first ever beer with my dad (sobre 15ish years by then).

Yeah I can't imagine what it feels like to wait 37 years. I think it's moments like these that make it worth it ase a supporter. The most lasting memory of that I have is Richo sitting on the boundary in tears. That man was the human embodiment of the club from the 90s onwards, as a supporter and player. Heck even the first four letters of his last name lol.

His dad was a premiership tiger too. He bled yellow and black

Back to Adelaide... I have always subscribed to the theory a squad needs to make finals at least once in the previous few years before winning a flag.. The great Brisbane, Cats, Hawks and Tigers sides had to taste defeat in finals before their runs. But the Crows are just about in as good of a position to buck that trend.

Yeah I was already crying and seeing him like that gets me every time lol

Just a further 2 cents.

I directly cared for both of his parents when they were in hospital, mostly his dad, over several years.

Two exceptionally lovely people. You really can see why Richo himself is such a decent human if you met his parents.

Richo visited frequently and I could hardly look him in the eye haha. Too star struck...

Yes one of the most public father-son stories, and while he never won one as a player, you could see how much it meant to him.

Yeah I think they can, if they don't have a lapse like they did on Sunday.

Oh really, I'm sure he would've had some stories to tell...

Yeah he does seem pretty down to earth, like someone you wouldn't mind having a beer with having a chin wag with.

I was too chicken/didn't want to bother him while he visited his parents.

The girls were always asking for photos etc. He was friendly and didn't seem to mind, I just thought it's not really the right place to bother someone like him...

Yeah, I hate to admit it but people are way overstating the significance of Sunday. Yes West Coast are a poor side, but poor sides are still always largely AFL level (despite the usual deriding) and routinely have games where they unexpectedly over perform. Adelaide also aren’t the only side to travel to Perth and come out a bit flat.

Yup, West Coast are doing that rebuilding team thing where they're putting up a serious fight to the best teams and fumbling the mid-to-low table assignments. I don't know if it's a complacency thing where the top team is more focused on getting through unscathed or the rebuilding team sets them as benchmark games.

We don't need percentage so for us it was a get the four points, don't get injured and get out kind of deal. We did that and now have full control over 1st place.

What a load of crap that is. You just weren't good enough to smash them. If you could have you would have.
