It's closer than you think...

Cripps vs Judd (at Carlton)

Games: 159 vs 145
Seasons as captain: 4 vs 5
All Australians: 4 vs 4
Brownlows: 1 vs 1
Brownlow Votes: 119 vs 116
Leigh Matthews Award: 1 vs 1
B&Fs: 4 vs 3
Finals series: 0 vs 4

Cripps has an extra B&F, although Judd won his in stronger teams. Everything else is basically square.

Cripps will easily cover Judd's Carlton career. But right now they're basically inseparable...

Exactly. I think ill wait for crippa to lead us into at least one finals series before making this inevitable change.

You can f..k Liam Jones right off, Jamison at FB ahead of him.

I am just as peeved with him as you are mate but if we keep it strictly on field jones has him covered.

I see your stats 👍. But Cripps is a better leader of his men than Judd. IMO.

Dodgy shoulders cruelled Jamo's career.

Grossly underrated player.

I reckon Jamo was ~ the 3rd-4th best FB in the comp for at least a few years.

Played a lone hand in an undersized (and under-talented) backline for many years, keeping many star FFs quiet... FFS.

Was pretty much a pure stopper. Not a lot of rebound and flair from him, which is why he didn't get much attention or many accolades.

Added a bit of run later in his career, but injuries cut his career well short.

Still only 36yo. Wish we'd seen his healthy his whole career.

I wonder where Cripps stands currently in Carlton players of all time.

Top 10?
Michael Jezz posted on this issue a couple of months ago, and couldn’t fit him in.

Personally, I think it’s hard to fit him in without team glory (similarly, I wouldn’t have Judd in there). Though I know others will disagree, and I am aware you are talking about individuals (rather than the team).

I've tried something a little different. Had to debut since 2000.

Saad Jamison Scotland
Gibbs* Weits* Doc*

Simpson* Judd* Walsh*
Kruezer* Cripps* Murphy*

Houlihan McKay* Walker*
Betts* Curnow* Waite

* denotes position in the side not up for debate

Respect the effort and approach. Highlights the challenges with the measure of "best body of work since 2000, minimum xx games". Players on the cusp don't really get a chance in either team of the century - not enough work either side of the millennium.

So I’ve taken into account our top five bnf finishes in our best seasons to help with this list.

Newman Weitering Scotland
McKay Koutoufides Simpson

Camporeale Cripps Murphy
Kruezer Walsh Judd

Lappin McKay Walker
Betts Curnow Carrazzo

Gibbs Ratten E. Curnow Docherty
