I am a big fan of Clohesy. The commentators basically ignored him dragging down Petracca for a key goal.

Good overhead. Tough, smart. Looks a better player than his more fancied Falcons teammate in Clark I reckon.

I absolutely love Ted's attitude (and I think he will be a decent role player like atkins has been-just maybe with a different club to us) but Clark has more talent than him in his little finger. Clark just has no body yet.

Dempsey is/will be an absolute gun but he's lucky he's in this era. His refusal to go hard when it's his turn to get crunched to help a team-mate means if it was 2000 he would probably get delisted without playing a game.
Maybe. Hard to tell whether he would play a different way or not.

Of course it works in reverse there a bunch of players in past eras who couldn’t get a game today as thuggery is not allowed.

Personally I prefer this era. Otherwise Close wouldn’t be playing next week as May would have sent him to hospital tonight in days gone by

Glad we didn't give that game away. Something is terribly wrong with Melbourne.

They've been running back that same midfield unit of Gawn/Petracca/Oliver/Viney more or less since '21.
Great players, champions of their club, but there's a lot of miles on their respective clocks.

Still no key forwards; it's all on Pickett and a declining Fritsch.

When May and Lever are both fit and in form they have some starch, but the best rebounding days of players like Langdon and Salem are behind them.

I think he's gonna have to.

We will find out soon enough.

We might have to force him with blitz out but we can't afford to cook him early in the year or we are stuffed for finals as our other ruck stock is crap.

PFd, Jezza, Demspey and OH need to stop trying to make every moement a poster moment.

Just wish that they'd back off the ME moments and play a bit more team stuff until they get their touch back

GO Catters
Without being perfect, Dangerfield (decisive and influential) and Dempsey (prolific and involved with plenty of decent chains) were very good, while Jezza was solid enough.

Henry is well off the boil, and so is Stengle despite his late goals.

I think we just need Stanley to ruck next week so we can cover Thilthorpe, Walker and Fogarty with Blitz, COS and SDK... and still one of them will need to rotate into the ruck to cover Stanley and have a bench spell.

Not sure how we cover them without Stanley, Kolo and J Henry playing and even if Stanley does play it'll still be a mission.

Unless we wanna play Zuthrie on Walker or something like that, I'm not sure what other option we have.

While there were a number of moments where the Demons could have cut us open if they were better skilled by foot, a win is a win and the changing of the guard is nice.

Delighted to see SDK play well in defence, and Dempsey get up the ground winning the footy.

I'd like to see Neale just making more contests, but he is still developing as a young tall at this point.
We dodged several bullets due to the Dees turnovers. The Cats turned it over a few too many times by foot, dinky little kicks over the top that didn't go over the top. Ohenry is lucky to be in the team given his lack of effort. He is not getting to contests and not running to space. It's hurting Close and Stengle who rely on the ball being brought to ground. He is only there because we do not have any decent medium forwards on the list. It's a pity Knevitt has not stepped up. If he could play wing, Ollie Dempsey could replace Ohenry up forward.

Good to see Danger recognise we've played some good patches, and some poor patches.

We're not firing on all cylinders.

Think that's just a frank observation.
He didn't seem to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater either though, nor was he overly bleak. Good attitude on Dangerfield.

Our forwards were much better at providing an option and creating a contest tonight. O Henry no goals and small numbers but he halved some contests that he'd normally not bother with. It was good to see.

Melbourne set up well behind the ball, were not easy to play against. Their midfield is still pretty good too, perhaps not that fit thoigh

Just listening to O’Sullivan on TV. Very impressive 19yo.

cats_09 said he might have put on a couple of centimeters, and he sure did that tonight, with self assurance. Not easy for the young ones to face the cameras. but he did it well with a chuckle and humility. Seems a lovely kid to go with the talent. Good to hear Paddy give him a big rap too.

Gotta give Bailey Smit some love.

I thought he was a constant tonight and whilst far from dominant, I had him 2nd or 3rd best on behind Danger and = with COS.

The way he has come in after a reco is huge.

Ran out the game really strongly.
I liked the way his teammates continually fed him the ball later in the game in the knowledge he'd move it along; reminded me a bit of the way we used to use dare-I-say Gaj.

Nice balance to his game tonight; the defensive stuff was solid.
