Well it hasn't been a luxury having 3 Rucks ready to play we have had for a while.

I think the Sub rule being abolished changed alot of teams playing 2 rucks. We had ideally a while ago Sandi, Tabs, Pav, 1 of Clarke or Griff and generally the worst performing forward or most tired player got subbed off for a speedier more lively spark.

Game has shifted to mobility again, 1 ruck and a few back up pinch hitters is all that's needed. An extra inside mid is more valuable than a 2nd string break even Ruckman IMO.

I'm not sure about that, most teams played 2 (Geelong had 3) rucks over the weekend and the ones that didn't all had capable big men that could give their ruckman a rest, we have no one!

Reality is I'm sure Sandilands can handle 1 game of footy by himself!

How much better will the side look if those three come in. Along with Weller ,Langdon and Pearce its looking like a new dawn. Exciting times ahead.

5-6 fresh youngsters playing in an experienced lineup.. But I thought the only solution was 22 new faces and our coach eye-darted all the way back to Victoria..

Really looking forward to seeing Weller , Langdon and Pearce playing in the same side.
Imagine Langdon getting it from a kick out has a couple of bounces , sees Weller at the half forward flank and hits him on the chest. Weller turns and puts a flat pass out to Pearce who kicks it from 40m out :)

Happy with the selections. Hopefully we are on the way to phasing out the foot soldiers. Not selecting DeBoer and not dropping Weller ... good signs.

Glad he's realised that we can't play with 2 lumbering giants that can only ruck and aren't athletic nor proper forward options. Though it does provide an issue with managing Sandilands for the season.

This is where prime Keplar or JLo would be invaluable

You wanted a change and you've got it. . I ruck and extra runners plus young blood. You either want a change or just want to be critical no matter what they do.

I think we will be playing Alex Pearce forward.Unless Silvagni comes in I reckon it's a two talls backline.
Well that might work. If Dawson or Johnson gets hurt. Al Pearce can go to the backline. Probably meam that Al Pearce will ruck 10-20% of the game then. Why would you drop both Griffin and Clarke? Al Pearce kicks a few goals this week, he won't lose his spot.

Jordan Lewis rucked half the 3rd quarter for Hawthorn which coincided with their best period of the game. I think carrying two non-mobile rucks is suicide.

Any of Dawson / Johnson / A.Pearce could provide 5 minutes respite for Sandilands. He can play 18 games for the year and rest occasionally.

Pretty happy with these changes.

Really hoping the Eagles get their shit pushed in this weekend too so all the ****heads at work clam up.

The eagles fans at my work have actually been pretty good about it. They are still at the disbelief phase, I think.
Well, apart from the bloke who rang me from Paris to tell me how shit my team is and that he'll have to buy a Gold Coast jumper to wear when they beat us.

I can live with that.

You should have tried to keep him on the line long enough that he wouldn't be able to afford a GC jumper once he got his phone bill.

He wears the opposition jumper after every Freo loss. That kind of dedication is quite touching really. He hasn't had to buy the GC and GWS ones yet.
And I didn't pick up. I didn't want to talk to anybody in Sunday afternoon. So I got a message instead.

He demonstrates true flogness. That's just dumb.

Typical eagles fan - he'd rather see Freo lose than the eagles win.

Their whole supporter base only started following them because they hate Freo.

In:
Sandi
Langdon
A Pearce
Blakey
Johnson

Out:
Clarke (inj)
C Pearce
Barlow
Griffin
Muzungo

Clarke is obvious, griffin can go too.
Sandi to ruck alone with chop out (poor option for us I know but works for other teams) by Zac D, tabs or A Pearce.
Langdon for Mz
Blakey for Barlow
Johnson for C Pearce - releases sutty to someone smaller
A Pearce for griffin for more versatility

I don't think this many changes will happen but wouldn't mind seeing it personally

Just wanted to link this for prosperity ( not sure I did it right :drunk: )
If the link doesn't work, it's just some of my finest BF work picking all bar one change and a strategy shift by RTB this week.

Dangerfield's kicking is far worse than Fyfe's.

Fyfe is also miles better in the air. Probably the best controller of the ball in the air as a midfielder I've ever seen. I'd also say Fyfe is also stronger in the contested situation, though Danger is right up there too of course.

All that's based on fully fit Fyfe, which we don't have right now. I think Danger will have a better year. Fyfe is coming off an ordinary pre-season to say the least, and history shows that a poor pre-season makes a big difference in this league.
