Thought we didn't any real passengers against the Blues, wasn't happy with Moran too much, but i think he will/should stay lets persist for a bit.

No changes

Any thoughts? Maybe Griffin to come in for Moran or something like that? Symes out?

By all reports Bock is ready to return. So who drops out?
Moran and Maric proved to Craigy that playing the 3rd ruck can work so it would be hard to drop one of them two. Odds are that 1 of these 2 would drop out and would be very unlucky

Thats right Bocks back, i hope we persist with 3 rucks but now Bocks back we can't be too top heavy. Saying that don't the Hawks play all 3 ruckman?

In- Bock
Out Symes (probably wont happen), maybe Reilly since he was in line to get dropped against the blues.

Tough luck whoever gets dropped, nooone was that bad.

Me too.

Out: Symes
In: Bock

Just seems like a good depth player, and since the Hawks are taller than the blues, this might be the go.

Looking at stats, Symes had 16 touches, with a 62% disposal efficiency. He does the hard things, tackles alright, but just lacks a string to his bow.

Moran 5 touches and Maric 8 touches weren't much better, expecially with Maric's 4 clangers.

Tough call

Talk of a small being dropped for Bock is way off the mark and will not happen and does not make sense

If Bock comes in it will be one of the following 3 senerio

1. Stevens to miss and Bock straight to CHB meaning the Carlton structure will stay in place

2. Walker to miss, Bock to CHB and Stevens to play the Walker role

3. Either Moran or Maric to miss, Tippett to fill the ruck void again and Stevens to push forward

I would like to see us maintain this weeks structure and IMO Stevens form is still below par and his omission would be my preference

My understanding is that Bock wants to play this week but the club may make him miss one extra as a precution against a recurrence of it.

Presuming that Bock does play, it'd surely have to be tall for tall, with one of Moran or Maric being the one to miss.

Would you like to tell me why Maric should stay in before Moran? I have watched the game twice now, and if you think Symes and Moran should be dropped you are in denial. In your disposal count you fail to mention the 4 marks Moran took to Maric's zero marks. Get the stats right if you are going to use them.
Griffin should come in for Maric in any case and the one to miss out is Walker IMO.

I would like nothing more than Tippett to play up forward for the majority of the game

However I do have concerns at playing Maric and Moran in the same side at present

Maric and Moran combined for a total of 13 touches and 25 hit outs and this is the output that you would expect from one ruckman not two so IMO we cant afford to carry them both

so I have reversed my thoughts if Bock comes in either Maric or Moran should miss and who that will be will be a line ball decision

Assuming one of our ruckmen get dropped, you'd have to think that it would be Moran wouldn't it? Not because he was necessarily worse than Maric but he wasn't awesome (he was considerably better than last week though) and has now had three weeks in the team to prove himself compared to Maric's one game back.

I'm hoping that it doesn't happen though. Unfortunately we may see Walker dropped but I hope we don't.

Stevens was very good yesterday I thought, his first good game since the concussion. Can't drop him.

Symes wasn't too bad, certainly did the hard stuff when it was required. He wasn't one of our best so it may be him but I doubt it very much.

The more I think about it the more I'm thinking Walker :(

I'm assuming people calling for him to be dropped because he was rubbish or sub-par didn't actually watch the game at all. He's just spending his entire game in the back half with Bock out, unable to be used as a forward switch. Honestly, it seems like he has to be kicking at least 4 goals a game before people around here grudgingly accept that he's "holding his place for now, but it's a week to week proposition"

IN: Bock

OUT: ?

PROFIT

You can't drop Walker, he didn't kick a goal against Carlton but he's now part of much needed structure.

I'd rather see Stevens out for Bock. You need both Moran and Maric or Tippett won't spend anywhere near enough time up forward.

**** that. We need him on Franklin. Roughead on Rutten is a real worry for me as well.

Whilst I agree that Maric or Moran will miss for Bock if he's ok, I think that you are hard on these guys. The reason why their two stats combine for one ruckman's output is that when one is on the ground the other is on the bench. It's hard to get stats on the pine :D

I think Walker got one goal.

Taking Stevens out for Bock just seems a really poor idea to me. In a team that has some serious forward firepower (Roughhead, Franklin, Williams, Rioli, a big-bodied resting ruckman, etc) we need all the class we can get and while Stevens has had a disappointing few weeks he was very good yesterday.

I want Walker in as much as anyone, I can assure you of that, but there is no question that in terms of talls he was our least-performing player yesterday, and as much as I love Walker I really want to keep three 200cm players in the side at all times.
