Tonight pointed out to me a few youngsters who i think would benifit from having a kick in the SANFL for a couple of weeks, namely Bernie Vince and Richie Douglas. I still think both will become solid AFL players but both seem indecisive and lost in the pressure of the game. My changes for next week god willing are:

Out: Douglas, Vince
In: Ricciuto (fingers crossed), McGregor

I figure Richmond will be a good side to play tall against and also by having an extra tall Mattner can finally be freed to the wing:)

Douglas was absolutely dreadful tonight, and must be dropped. Lost his footing, made incorrect decisions, and had no impact. Another poor game by him.

Vince needs to be dropped too; struggled with the pace of the game once again. 5 free kicks against is telling.

Agree with your changes.

Jericho made a few disposal errors but I think he will keep his spot, he wasn't too bad and considering it was his first game back in I think he will keep his spot. I doubt Dougie will be dropped, X-Factor turned it on and kicked a BEAUTY but unfortunately just ran too far. I got excited though!

Glad Jericho played well. Might still be his last game though, but looks like he is more versitile than Vince.

There is no chance NC drops LJ after that game!

I don't like to change a winning side but it seems to me that if young blokes live BV and RD are looking lost in a game which we win quite comfortably they will certainly struggle against the stronger, more intense teams and i think we need the experience of K-Mac and Roo. If Roo doesn't come up it might be worth having a look at Pfeiffer or Campbell.

I get attacked for talking up Bernie too much and rightly so, but I have to say the image of that goal just keeps playing back in my head. It was just...too awesome and I'm so disappointed it was disallowed. Watched him chase a few times tonight and noticed he's not snail-paced, but certainly dead average in that department. Like Douglas, he would benefit from a few games in the SANFL to put things into perspective and really start to pick up confidence. We'll have no choice but to start sending these blokes back soon because the returns of our big guns are looming.

I thing we should persevere with Douglas - he understands the game of football and has the footy smarts.

Bernie is not quite there yet - he might have to give way next week.

You make some good points about the youngsters.

If Roo comes back Vince is the first to go.

Bode unlikely to be fit. Reilly one more week. Stiffy -one more week or two.

Kenny may get a gig - but who plays up forward as a crumber.

Douglas made a lot of mistakes - too many in fact - but he did some good things as well.

Agree on both counts.

Vince has to be the first to go. While I believe he will develop into a handy player, he's not quite there yet.

Douglas should be played IMO.

His problem at the moment is a common one with youngsters in their early games - instead of doing the reflex give, which he nearly is doing, he seems to doubt himself and that hesitation can prove costly. Remember Hentschel in his early games?? Remember Knights??

Douglas does have the footy smarts naturally, as you said. All he has to do is believe in himself and do the first instinctive thing rather than second guess himself.

He's going to be very good - it's only when rather than will he. :thumbsu:

for me this game reeks of the old saying DANGER GAME

so i hope craigy can get that through the players skulls

All he would have to do is whack the desk in front of the players like he did in the coach's box last week and he'd have them hanging off his every word. Man it was strange to see him visibly frustrated...

You're kidding, right?

If you think this week is a danger game, then every single game of the season is.

And so they are. If the players think Friday night will be easy then we will lose.

I want to see the attacking game we had in place tonight... if we try and shut it down we will drag Richmond up to our level

If they think it will be easy, we might only win by 50.

I agree with the outs that both Douglas and Vince need a few week back in the SANFL but disagree with bring McGregor in. I would like to see Ivan Maric come in to the side and Jonathon Griffin play out of a forward pocket.

In: Ricciuto, Maric

Out: Douglas, Vince.

Jericho needs to be given 2 or 3 games so they can make an honest assessment on his future. He was serviceable last night and showed he can add something to the half back line.

I will be VERY VERY surprised if Maric or McGregor get selected this week. Not because they are not good enough but because we are playing friday night and both of those boys are playing today in the SANFL. Couple that with a linited preparation and limited matches under their belts, I think they are just about out of the calculations for the Richmond game. I think the week after they will be up for considrations.

As much as it pains me to say it, I would give Jericho another game this week. Not much point bringing him in for the make or break and then dropping him after one game.
If anyone is to get dropped, it should be Vince.

No you are wrong. He was serviceable. Set up a goal, layed some good tackles and pinpointed a few passes. Shocking call.
